Who Have Been The Luckiest and Unluckiest Minnesota Twins Batters in 2023?
terrydactyls commented on Matthew Taylor's article in Twins
However, if you buy into the statistics that the OP uses, Buxton should not be hitting as "well" as his numbers portray. All he needs to do is increase his exit velocity. Personally, I don't think exit velocity is all that meaningful if you are swinging for the fences and striking out a lot. I would still prefer to see batters like Carew and Olivia that tried to get as many hits as possible - even if they were only singles and doubles.- 8 comments

Maybe In-game Approach is the Next Big Thing
terrydactyls replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
But if you truly believe in the the "three true outcome" theory then you gotta swing for the fences. It's an all or nothing world we live in. Okay, that was sarcasm. Make the pitcher throw a strike! I heard that screamed at me at every level I ever played at. If you walk, you still get an RBI. -

Sonny Gray's Cutter, Michael A. Taylor's Bunting Prowess, and Some Offensive Discipline
terrydactyls commented on Matt Braun's article in Twins
"Bunting has been reliced, othered"? What does that mean? I didn't know you could give lice to a bunt, let alone other one. -
I looked at the top 300 prospects at Prospectslive.com. There are only 6 catchers in the top 100 and they only project 2 to remain at catcher (and one of them is questionable because he is also a pitcher that throws in the upper 90's). #26 Mitchell - HS - stays at catcher but if he doesn't develop, he can pitch #37 Teel - Virginia - catcher with a weak arm #38 Carrigg - San Diego State - Probably move to corner outfield #44 Velazquez - HS - Probably a corner OF #66 Dickey - Tennesee - Probably a corner OF # 78 - Carico - Davidson - Probably a corner OF With these as the choices for the Twins, only Mitchell and Teel project as future catchers - one might pitch and the other has a weak arm. So unless Mitchell is still available for the compensation pick, catcher should not be a priority. They might as well wait until later rounds to pick up some players they can use as "lottery tickets" for potential trades for a catcher.

I can put some of Solano's error on the attempted double play on the way today's players are taught to play 1st base. When I was learning to play 1st base (and I know that was before Henry Ford rolled out his first car - almost), that throw would have hit me in the chest. We were taught to have an initial stance with our left heel in contact with the outer edge of the left side of the x bag and the right foot similarly placed on the right side. We then would shift our feet from one side of the base to the other dependent on where the throw was going. In Solano's situation, I would have moved my left heel to the right side of 1st and stretched to the ball with my right leg keeping my body facing the throw. If you watch the video, you can see that Solano stretches with his left leg prior to the throw and then stretching for the throw by crossing his left leg over his right leg causing him to almost have his back to the throw. It's much easier to catch a ball if you're looking directly at it. But, he should have caught that throw no matter how he played it (or didn't play it?).

Reviewing the Josh Donaldson Trade

Reviewing the Josh Donaldson Trade
terrydactyls replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not sure what you're trying to say. As near as I can tell, you're saying that the Twins never should have signed Donaldson in the first place? If so, that's a whole other topic. Because Donaldson was already on the team, the trade appears to be a win for the Twins. IKF did okay but Rotvordt has been a nothing burger for the Yankees. On the Twin's side, Sanchez was Sanchez. Gio, however, produced better than expected. So I would call it - advantage Twins. And that's without mentioning Correa.- 44 replies

Will the Real Jose Miranda Please Stand Up

Agree 100%. I find it maddening to spend time reading the same sentence multiple times in order to determine what the poster was trying to say. It only takes a few seconds to re-read your post before hitting the Submit Comment button. Note: It took about 20 seconds to re-read this post and make needed corrections. -
I think that the sacrifice bunt and hit and run plays were banned last off-season as part of the rule changes.
