  1. Baseball-reference.com provides all the stats you want. Milb.com should also have them but they haven't posted any yet.
  2. My favorite column on Twins Daily. One little nitpick. How did Contreras hit a two-run HR with Galick and Julien on base to give the Saints a "two-run difference" with the score 5-1? What actually happened?
  3. Hell, I'm 76 and don't have kids or grandkids, and I still get embarrassing when the Twins get a walk-off win.
  4. Nice try. I am saying the studies (which were not done by the OP) were analytical but the charts (done by the OP) were not. Ergo, we were not talking analytics.
  5. I agree that the studies have analytical value. What I found disingenuous was calling the colorful bar charts a good example of analytics (not by you).
  6. I don't understand the challenge. What will they use for verification? The same data that the automated system used? Something that is more accurate than what the automated system uses? (In that case, why not use that data initially?) Or will the use some sort of visual that is interpreted by humans? And in the latter case, why have an automated system if a human opinion is better?
  7. But the bar chart doesn't break down anything. It is just an opinion. I could present the same chart with the same people and colors but with totally different results. That would be my opinion. But it still would not be analytical, just my opinion.
  8. I agree that national publications give Minnesota no love at all. Another good example is the Athletic released their updated power rankings for the NHL this week and the Wild barely made the top 10. 16-2-4 in their last 22 games and leading their division, and the Athletic ranked them ninth overall (and four spots below a team in their own division).
  9. Analytics??? All I see are pictures of four people with a colorful bar chart beneath each picture that is based solely on one person's opinion. That is not analytics. That is opinion.
  10. All of this sounds very reasonable, but I do have one problem. I hate social media and I am not on Faceplant, Instapot, or Tic Tac Toe. How about communication through internet platforms such as Twins Daily, the Athletic, and other readily available sources?
  11. This should not be a problem at all. if the Twins decide to move Maeda to the bullpen, they should immediately negotiate a new contract that contains incentives based on being a reliever. That should have two effects. First, it should make the transition palatable to Maeda. And second, it would send a message to agents that the Twins are willing to make changes that are not just beneficial to them, but also to the player who is impacted.
  12. Damn autocorrect. Thank you for pointing that out. I violated my primary complaint about postings at Twins Daily: Don't be in a rush to post your thoughts; review your comment before submitting.
  13. He helped "Farmer" get out of a jam? I don't remember that game. Perhaps you meant Fuller? 😁
  14. The baseball season is over six months long. That's about 190 days. If a starter can't pitch the equivalent of one inning a day, then something is terribly wrong with baseball. A seven inning start should be the goal for every starting pitcher and also for their manager.
  15. I'm confused by the rating system. All five players shown have a current speed rating higher than their future speed rating. Does that mean all five are now at their peak and will only get worse? And how far away is the "future"? Two years? Six years? At the end of their career? I'm confused!
  16. This thread is about the 2022 draft, not what they "should" do this summer. We all know you are adamant that the Twins have a catcher as their primary target. But there is no need to rant about it in a thread about a completely different topic.
  17. Exactly! Thank you for clarifying what I said.
  18. I agree with you that all games have equal value. BUT...... I think there is a reason why some people put more importance on games that are later in the season. If the Twins were to lose 10 straight games in April, they would still have about 130 to 145 games to overcome this problem. However, a 10-game losing streak in August or September would be very difficult to overcome. So while every game counts equally, games later in the season might appear to be more important.
  19. Major league games only? So you aren't including games with Detroit or Kansas City?? ☹️
  20. Put Julien at 2B now. If he can play decent defense, then the Polanco problem becomes minor. If Julien can't perform defensively at 2B, it's good to know.
  21. The rest of the team isn't very good.
  22. Hat in the rink is what fans do when a player gets his third goal of the game. Hat in the ring is what I think you meant.
  23. Okay. Justify this. What if Gray is having a normal season (for him) and Varland and SWR both are significantly outperforming Gray? Still not interested in a trade?
  24. The Angels plan to compete every year but they don't know how to do it.
  25. What are you willing to give up? I'm pretty sure that the Angels are also aware of Quero's abilities and the Twins needs. The price tag might be quite high. Who are you willing to trade?
