  1. Jair Carmargo hits a pop up but he still put his head down and ran hard toward 1st base. Good to see hustle. And then the Keystone Cops showed up and hilarity ensued. Speaking of hustle, E-Rod has some wheels. He covered a lot of ground to catch that ball. I hope the collision was more knocking the wind out of him than a physical injury.
  2. So he is performing above replacement level? Sounds like he's being paid about the right amount.
  3. Did you have to apply for the position of "The Grinch of Twins Daily" or is this a self-appointed position?
  4. You sure read a lot into his comment that I think isn't there.
  5. You stated that Martin would "probably get on base more than Castro" and that "this lineup needs hitters who can generate runs". But finish with saying you "don't think Martin will help accomplish that goal." Sounds like you're contradicting yourself.
  6. Nonsense. The minors are a training ground for the majors. Minor League players play wherever the major league administrators need them to play. Winning is secondary.
  7. Dameury Pena won't be 18 for another couple weeks. But he is leading the DSL Twins in almost every hitting statistic except HR (the slacker). Might be someone to keep an eye on.
  8. Exactly! Not too much was expected when they were signed but both are performing above expectations.
  9. How can Julien play "so deep"? He has to stay in the dirt portion of the infield just like every one else. He may be a foot or two deeper than a few, but hardly significant.
  10. His three chance were 260 AB in 2021, 160 in 2022, and 162 this year. And many of those AB were pinch hitting. I wouldn't consider any of them "extended". This year, he has the same number of RBI as Gallo in about 80 fewer AB, his average is 40 points higher, and he strikes out at a 40% rate versus Gallo's 50%. Play him now to see what he can do. If Gallo is league average, Larnach If he plays well, he's either a value to the Twins or an asset trade. If not, send him packing. I think he would be of value to the Twins. Plus, anyone with a middle name John-Ikaiakola should be in the majors.
  11. So he's below average in OPS, is hitting.179, has 17 HR but only 32 RBI, and strikes out in just over 50% of his at bats but plays half his games in Target Field, so he is considered league average? When you strike out in over half your at bats, what difference does the field your playing in make?
  12. That is an excellent idea. He's athletic so he should be able to pick up the nuances of 1B pretty quickly. Having one more position on his resume might just get him an extended look with the Twins. Or it might confirm that the Twins have no interest in him except as an emergency replacement player.
  13. A new team came to town in 1961.
  14. If I decide to ignore suppositions, I won't be able to read any comments. ☹️
  15. Thanks. That is my thinking also. But the supposition is always presented as a hard fact which is disingenuous at best.
  16. I have a serious question (no snarkyness, tongue in cheek, or attempt at humor). Is there any actual (provable) evidence that the Twins' ownership has determined a maximum spending ceiling for payroll? I've seen lots of comments that the FO hav has set limits, but so far no actual proof. It might be true, but it might also just be an assumption based on the newest top dog being a direct descendant of former "cheap" owners.
  17. What about those of us that hate social media? How can we keep up? Google says it's less than a 7-hour drive. I think Google has never driven among the M*******s near Boston, the Connecticut traffic, or anywhere within 100 miles of NYC. Especially on a weekend near the end of summer.
  18. 23 exclamation points in a 48 word comment. That's a .471 exclamation slugging percent.
  19. The OP says that the Twins right-handed batters haven't held their own against left-handed pitching and it is magnified by their best hitters also being left-handed. My thought is: why not let the best hitters face left-handed pitchers. Screw analytics and let the best players play.
  20. Why is Joey Gallo still on the Twins' roster? I know this has nothing to do with the minor league report, but isn't that sentence required to be in the comments of every article? It sure seems like it.
  21. I really liked the clip of MAT hitting his home run. Because he wasn't sure whether or not the ball would clear the fence, he put his head down and ran as fast as possible until he learned it was gone. That's the way baseball is supposed to be played. Well done, MAT!
  22. It's my stupid opinion that players concentrate on bulking up rather than conditioning (i.e. core strength, flexibility, etc.) because the home run is viewed as the nirvana of baseball.
