  1. Luis Arraez ranks among all NL players: #1 BA #1 OBA #1 AB per Strikeout #3 OPS+ #4 Adjusted Batting Wins #5 Offensive Win % #6 WAR #7 OPS #7 Runs Created
  2. I would be really really excited if Max Clark was still there at #5 - but also worried that he turns out to be as brittle as Lewis and Buxton who were similar toolsy Top 5 schoolboy picks. Do you think requiring "adamantium bonding" would be viewed as unethical?
  3. There needs to be something for struggling hitters as effective at improving their performance as Driveline is for pitchers. Why yes, I do have some certain hitters in mind.
  4. As we play Baltimore on Saturday, time will be running out on the payment owed the Twins by Bally's Sports in order to keep broadcasting their games. Bally's hasn't announced that they won't be making the payment and, if the situation with the D-Backs is any indication, there's probably more negotiations to come. I hope not. It's time for Bally's limited streaming coverage to be replaced with something more accessible (MLB.com) for the remainder of the season. Anyway, slight chance we may be seeing the last Bally's broadcast of a Twins game this weekend. Fingers crossed.
  5. Through it all, hasn't the fishing vest been awesome, though? Never mind that you left three men stranded in scoring position in your other at-bats. That solo homer in a 4-1 loss was really something!
  6. Speculation is that Kepler is in possession of some damning pictures taken of Thad Levine/Derek Falvey with TC Bear. #furries
  7. ...here's the evidence in MS Office default blue & orange. Through 79 games, the Twins most likely number of runs scored in a game was 2, which occurred 17% of the time. The Twins scored 2 or fewer runs in a game 36% of the time while the other 29 teams in the MLB scored 2 or fewer runs in 30% of their games. On the other end of the scale, the Twins scored 5 or more runs in a game 37% of the time while the other 29 teams in the MLB scored 5 or more in 44% of their games. Because the Minnesota's pitching has been decent through 79 games, the Twins actually have higher win rates at most of the run-scored per game values compared to the rest of the MLB. Too bad the offense has been so underwhelming.
  8. So Carlos Correa is making the decisions, now?
  9. Wasn't Trevor Plouffe the first Twins player to sing the Sheboygan Sausage jingle for the radio ads?
  10. While baseball's in a fixing mood, perhaps something could be done to make slumps more fun and to make people want to talk about them.
  11. The Twins righty lineup against Smyly (can his name be abbreviated with just an emoji?) features WIli Castro and Donovan Solano in for Max Kepler and Joey Gallo/Alex Kirilloff. Not the most scale-tipping platoon moves I've ever seen.
  12. This feels more like it adds infield width than depth.
  13. Who would be on the Twins management-front office-scouting-executive Mount Rushmore? Some candidates: Sam Mele, George Brophy, Howard Fox, Calvin Griffith, Gene Mauch, Jerry Bell, Jim Rantz, Andy MacPhail, Tom Kelly, Ron Gardenhire, Terry Ryan, Mike Radcliff.
  14. With the ghost runner rule, how many times does the visiting team intentionally walk the home leadoff hitter in the bottom of an extra inning to set up force plays if the score is still tied? If MLB wants to speed up the game, they should just put that guy at first, too.
  15. The greater variety of throw types from infielders making more demanding plays will also be better served by having a larger target at 1B than the 5' 9" Luis Arraez. The defensively skilled 6' 5" outfielder Joey Gallo my be more valuable at 1B than people think.
  16. With this team, I think we fans would benefit more from the sports psychologist. The Saints used to have Sister Rosalind. Maybe the Twins could put in an ASMR section.
  17. In 1982, the Metropolitan Sports Commission had to hire a service to get rid of the the hundreds of pigeons that were trapped in the Metrodome when the fabric roof was installed. Dome Dogs made their initial appearance shortly thereafter. Coincidence?
  18. Do you go with the over or the under for the number of combined 2023 defensive games played by Minnesota's two elite defenders, Buxton and Correa, surpassing last year's combined number? (190... Correa 132, Buxton 58.)
  19. The only positive in signing Bauer is he wouldn't have to face Max Kepler.
  20. But has another catcher ever done this? Joe Mauer - Another Day at the Office
  21. Regarding the perplexing Gallo signing, the Twins may have misinterpreted the 2023 MLB rule change increasing the size of the bases 3 inches as instead increasing the size of the ball 3 inches.
  22. And once Dansby Swanson signs with the Cubs we can go through the 12 steps of recovery.
  23. Count me among the others the enjoyed and appreciated this well-written post. Thank you!
  24. According to Baseball Reference: (BA/OB/SLG) 0 outs, runner on 2nd - .245/.336/.426 (109 plate appearances) 0 outs, 1st & 2nd - .230/.288/.311 (82 PA) 0 outs, 2nd & 3rd - .200/.286/.267 (21 PA) 0 outs, runner on 3rd - .400/.455/.500 (11 PA) 0 outs, 1st & 3rd - .211/.160/.368 (25 PA) 0 outs, bases loaded - .250/.158/.583 (19 PA) Combined runners in scoring position, no outs - .241/.252/.384 (267 PA) EDIT - overall the Twins slashes are .249/.317/.405
