  1. Agreed, and while regression to the mean will catch up to him, likely not all at once. There’s 5 weeks left of the season. He may not end the season at .418 BABIP, but he likely won’t end it at .300 BABIP either.
  2. Which is better than Farmer’s 96 pas against righties this season .157/.250/.277
  3. I agree, and to expand on this, if 5 were accurate, the FO would have invested significant development resources into solidifying the lower leverage arms. Varland would have been in the bullpen from opening day, and CJ Culpeper (or another lefty starter) would be taking Thielbar’s place on Aug 1 or sooner. instead relievers are viewed as fungible, which has some Merit until…
  4. Sorry, starting pitching innings thing is my kryptonite. Since 2019, the Twins’ starting pitching has thrown 4,350 innings ranking 12 of 30. 2023 Twins starters were ranked 4th in innings pitched. This year they’re ranked 12th. Since 2019 they rank 12th in FIP, 2023 they ranked 3rd in FIP, 2022 they were 27th in innings pitched and 24th in FIP. Rocco lets the starters pitch when they’re good and yanks them when they’re not. dont over think it
  5. Wow! That sucked and now I read that this poop-parade continues?! Ugh
  6. 1) who that money is spent on is theoretically the responsibility of the front office. The owners give the budget and approve large expenditure 2) tap water isn’t “free”. If you live in a city, you pay city water bill, if you live rurally you own a well. It is cheap, but many cities subsidize the resident drinking water price with business water prices, ie car washes and stadiums pay a lot for their water so the residents pay a smaller proportion of the total water bill. All this is to say the bill you pay may not be directly related to the cost. Your Brooks Lee shirsey at the ballpark is the same on MLB shop dot com, and you can look at every team’s prices there. Not a lot of difference. 3) unlike football, baseball isn’t salary capped. Spending more doesn’t guarantee anything because there is a surprising amount of parity between mlb teams, but spending helps a lot. This 2019 article had 24 of 25 previous World Series winners had payroll in the top half of the league. The only exception was the ‘03 Marlins. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/world-series-champion-opening-day-payroll-ranks-in-the-wild-card-era/
  7. Fair, but Duran didn’t choose to go in up 5. Fresh Duran is very different than fatigued Duran
  8. Here’s where I wish Rocco had Farmer to PH for Martin
  9. I mean PH Farmer for Wallner, how else do you describe that?
  10. Did Kepler get injured during a social media team stunt? https://www.mlb.com/news/twins-players-pranked-with-fake-spiders?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share
  11. Vice versa, had the Pohlads not 1) cut spending, and 2) not advertised it, and 3) not screwed around with Bally, what might the average attendance be? they averaged 8th out of 15 in the AL last year after finishing below .500 in 2022. Typically teams see an increase in attendance after making the post season, but this one saw a decrease. the Pohlads suck, but the devil I know, is better than the devil I don’t.
  12. And there appears to be a cause to his blow up as he had pitched 3 of the previous 4 games, and since that night he’s gotten some rest
  13. Or, they could DFA Okert (or Richards) and piggy-back Varland with Mathews and still keep Varland somewhat stretched out, while giving the BP a breather
  14. I mean… when you put it that way… it did implode two nights in a row and catapulted KC to the second WC spot.
  15. I’m glad you asked! Wallner sports a .385 OBP carried by his robust 11.1% walk rate. his OBP ranks 15th league wide all hitters you are correct, he strikes out a ton, but the On Base and Slug are excellent
  16. Wallner’s .959 OPS ranks 10th of all hitters league wide, and he’s on the bench?
  17. Wallner is even between LF and RF this year by OAA (0 is average, -1 is slightly below average), but has an absolute cannon Larnach is slightly better in LF than RF this year, but had a limp noodle arm not very compelling stats though… it could be switched, as you say
  18. Vazquez had a horrendous start to the season, but since June 1, has been the better hitter
  19. Lewis DH Correa SS Wallner RF Buxton CF Miranda 3B Santana 1B Larnach LF Vazquez C Castro 2B I waffled on Wallner LF, Kepler RF. Kep hasn’t hit as well as Larnach and Kep’s fielding has been good but not spectacular, not enough to bump him ahead of Larnach’s hitting. Vazquez has been one of the better hitters on the team over the last month, when I was ready to trade him for a bag of balls in early July.
