  1. I watched Sands blown save, it never occurred to me to lookup if he had a save this season, and he has 3! holy crap!
  2. They are currently on track for 39 wins on the season, if they finish with 38, it will be the worst winning percentage in modern baseball history.
  3. Agreed, but Okert, Thielbar, and Sands are the other options. Sands would be my preference, but Rocco hasn’t trusted him in the 9th
  4. agreed, it’s someone else’s call I can see a scenario where Duran’s contract extension talks are impacted by the FO and Manager converting him to a reliever.
  5. Correct, also decisions change. Varland is a starter now. He may not be in the future.
  6. Varland pitched 68 innings last year, so he lost his prospect status coming into this year. He’s still a pretty good pitcher, but borderline in the rotation even now with all the injuries. Agreeing with others SWR is firmly in the rotation for 2025. He’s proven himself to be an MLB starting pitcher. While he might not be sexy/have the upside, he has a high floor. Matthews and Festa have been a treat to watch and such amazing potential. definitely agree with the gist of the OP that these 4 youngish pitchers give me optimism for the future
  7. Dobnak got 3 years 10M. That was a great contract for both sides. Dobnak still has options, unlike Disco what I mean is: 1) Dobnak is down to his last year in 2025, essentially a 1 year $2.25m deal 2) they get their outs very similarly, sinker mix, Pitch to contact, tons of base traffic. 3) I trust their effectiveness about the same. Similar WHIP, ERA, etc, Dobnak is a bit more trustworthy on the injury front being a year further removed, but much shorter track record.
  8. Hilarious! Almost as funny as the DeSclafani article.
  9. Anthony DeSclafani is exhibit 1 that there is such a thing as a bad 1 year contract. we’ve seen dozens of Anthony DeSclafanis over the years, and I can’t recall ever being relieved that we got them. Randy Dobnak is already Anthony DeSclafani, and I don’t want another one
  10. Jeffers’ everything continues to slump. Likely it’s a combination of all of these factors, with injury/fatigue impacting his hitting too.
  11. KC has scored 567 runs this season. The Twins have scored 566.
