    His hard hit rate is down, as is his pull rate, while his oppo rate is up. His fly ball rate is up, and he’s swinging at fewer pitches in the zone, while swinging at more pitches out of the zone. Usually when hitters are swing for the fences too much, they try to pull too many pitches and roll over the top. He’s going oppo more and getting more loft. he might benefit from trying to hit homers more

    Agreed, while I think Farmer should be the one to go, and believe there to be a strong chance, I hear Larnach has been DHing almost exclusively because he’s fighting a foot injury, certainly likely/possible he gets the Il stint to recover from it, or one of Larnach/Kirilloff getting demoted

    While I agree with the DFA Farmer contingent (I was in the DFA Margot group, but he has improved lately), why is Santana a lock? being a good defensive first baseman clearly has some value, but he’s a terrible hitter and has been for several years. First baseman need to hit, and Miranda hits decent/well and plays passable first. The whole reason Santana was signed is because the FO didn’t trust Miranda and Kirilloff. Fair enough, Kirilloff hasn’t earned the trust, but Miranda’s OPS would be average at first base (compared to Santana’s bottom of the league) i think there’s an outside chance Santana gets DFA’d at some point.

    Who goes? DFA Margot is an easy one. Option Kirilloff? DFA Santana? They could DFA Farmer, but then SS gets rather thin if Correa gets injured. Castro is bad there, Lewis and Lee have both been injured and probably can’t jump into the deep end with both feet. that’s where I get a bit nervous DFAing the vets. The young guys have been hurt and inconsistent. Better inconsistent than consistently bad…. But the injuries
