Did the Pohlads have a change of heart?

Pretty well sums up my perspective minus going to FLA. Rocco is a drag on what some of our players can do talentwise -

Twins Interested in Carlos Santana Reunion For 2025

I expect the Brothers are here reviewing. I lived in both Arizona (25 yrs) and Minnesota (17). I know something about the fans in each area. MN folks are much more attached to their upper Midwest roots and mentality...in a good way. Arizona fans come from all over (many still root more for the Cowboys in football) and come out to watch the other teams just as much as the home teams. Twins fans are loyal. Twins fans want a team that represents them. Twins fans want players who appreciate that loyalty and reflect in their play. Twins fans love the ones who spend the off-season living in Minnesota...ice fishing, winter carnivals, trying lutefisk (sp?). Arizona fans could care less about all that. Just win; or the AZ fan is off to golfing, hiking, rock climbing, Bungie jumping, or Rocky Point. Arizona fans are much more fickle is my point. So, brothers...take care of these MN Twins fans and they will adore you. Of course it will help if one of you lives here all year long and learns to like ice fishing. I tried it and failed in grand fashion, but that is only part of the reason I moved to sunny Arizona!!

Good enough. And yes, Walker would be a fine fit. -

Yes. Good enough to take the gold glove at 1st base. I challenge the thinking that defense at 1st base is not critical. -

You make some good points. Santana will most likely not repeat his '24 season. Miranda has a highter ceiling for sure given his age. Where I differ from your presentation is on the value of defense and veteran leadership. Defense at 1st base is important...think of all the plays they are involved in. It takes a lot of practice to learn the different positioning and footwork of 1st base. It's not a secret Miranda's weakest part of his game is his legs. I believe he is soon to be DH material. His bat will continue to be his major strength and a 2.0 War is very possible so keep his bat in the lineup. -

If you take catching seriously and bother to compare their defensive skills you will see who is the better catcher. I'll put money on who our pitchers prefer to have behind the dish. His last name ends with Z.

Ok. I'll bite. 1) twins rotation is one area that is in decent shape w depth and upside. 2) Lewis for those three is a dream. Lewis for Luzardo alone is questionable from Miami viewpoint. 3)if Larnach had a breakout season in 2024 then maybe we can look for him to be an MVP candidate soon. Yes, both laughable. Miami does have a player we can make good use of. Catcher Nick Fortes should be a target.

Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Doris From HR

Nice effort for the most part. Diaz would be a good add, however the surplus of pitching the Twins may have was hard to build and should not be sacrificed. The best teams rarely make a trade without getting a pitcher in return. Tampa does an excellent job of building pitching depth so grab one. Regarding the funky look of moving Vasquez... Don't. I move Jeffers instead. 1) he brings a better return 2) grab a veteran defender to split time with V. Twins lineup can afford the catcher position being a defense only spot I believe.

Stopped reading at the suggestion Buxton "could continue to have an impact over a full season.". 100 games does not make a full season. He has played one full season I believe of 140+ games. Yes a move to one of the corners is wise. If he were not so stubborn a move to preserve his body could have been done a few seasons ago. Start him in leftfield or right, and make a late defensive switch to center in tight ball games.

Here is included one take on 2025 Twins as compared to all of MLB. A look at the basics would give the impression the Twins are in good shape. Where this view falls apart is when you remember those numbers are composites for each position. For instance catcher...3.1 WAR. That represents # for both Jeffers and Vasquez. Well, of course we know both don't play at the same time so in any given game situation the # does not hold up. There are of course many examples of this across the whole rankings. Question is then... how does this affect true rankings of Twins and others?
