  1. While I agree with the OP that Pineda is on the decline and won’t get any healthier, this Team needs to acquire 3 starting pitchers this offseason. They won’t sign 3 multi-year at 20 million per season free agents. If Pineda is the 4th or 5th starter, the worst acquired, and a Happ type signing, that’s OK. If Pineda is the best pitcher they acquire, there’s a problem.
  2. One of my favorite kid books, and one that has a lesson to be learned for all of us. the root cause of Alexander’s bad day was Alexander’s bad attitude. I don’t think that is quite applicable to Dobby at this moment. Fortunately Dobnak’s contract is one that allows the Twins to find out what the root cause is, but not so substantial that they can’t cut bait if they can’t figure it out.
  3. I too am envious of Joe Ryan’s magnificent mane
  4. Gibbault is going to be sent to AAA tonight as he went 3 innings today. Maybe Jax too. Time to see Jordy Blaze and Jhoan Duran
  5. Agreed, and also would want the inverse, if I need the surgery, would want to get it as soon as possible. Would hate to spend 6 months resting and rehabbing a UCL that’s never going to heal, just to get TJ and lose half to 3/4 of 2023 as well.
  6. I love your enthusiasm! I don’t share it… but I appreciate it!
  7. I don’t get what you mean here. do you mean he chose not to toe the company line? If so, that’s why he’d get in trouble. if not, please clarify
  8. Thanks for clarifying, I’m no bill of rights legal scholar (clearly).
  9. This is not a first amendment issue. The government may not censor speech about the government made by citizens in public. Twitter is a private platform, and Simmons is making speech about public health. It’s more equivalent to yelling “fire” in a movie theatre. Keep in mind, people go to jail for things like that. essentially Simmons is telling his followers to use medical treatment alternative to prescribed treatment by public health officials. Saying stuff like that gets people in trouble and usually if you are speaking as a known public figure, you also speak on behalf of your employer. If you hear the “it’s a personal decision” answer in pressers, that’s most likely what the team tells the athlete to say.
  10. Mod Note: make sure the tone of comments stays respectful and safety for our fellow TDers is top of mind.
  11. I’d love to see Eddie win an MVP in ‘20. A great season from Eddie on their push to win a short season would be fantastic! An MVP would guarantee he never plays another game for the Twins. That MVP award, even in a short season, puts significant leverage on arbitration salary up. A mediocre season would keep his final year of arbitration somewhat static. A huge year with an MVP... waive goodbye
  12. I don't "hate" Eddie Rosario, It's not his fault - I don't hold anything against the guy, and really like watching him play. I just think you can get almost as much, if not more value from a player making $11.5 million less than him. I hope hope Eddie Rosario gets a really big payday in free agency.
  13. especially looking at alternatives in house. Cave (113 wRC+) Wade(98 wRC+), Kirilloff(121 wRC+ in AA) & Rooker (139 wRC+ in AAA) all in house ready to back fill at major league rookie rates, or Eddie Rosario (103 wRC+) at 12 mil or more.
  14. they have enough fielders to play sandlot ball on the taxi squad. You can rehab that way.
  15. This is a really good blog that backs up your assertion of too much money tied into too few stocks: https://wolfstreet.com/2020/07/11/wild-ride-to-nowhere-appl-msft-amzn-goog-and-fb-soar-to-new-high-rest-of-the-stock-market-is-a-dud-has-been-for-years/
  16. If you want to re-create that experience, you can get the heat at home kits to eat while streaming a ball game. I doubt they still have the food trucks running during the Covid, but OMG is that good! https://www.hotindianfoods.com/
  17. https://mobile.twitter.com/tlschwerz/status/1280266878515130374?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1280266878515130374%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftwinsdaily.com%2Ftopic%2F37940-minnesota-twins-2020-schedule-released%2F There’s two weeks that don’t have two day games in there and a couple weeks that have 2 days games and a 5:10 or 3:10 start. There’s even a week in there with two day games in a row.
  18. Viruses mutate. People can get the flu or common cold, several times in a season, even with a vaccine. Unfortunately we still aren't sure yet if Covid is like Measles, or if Covid is like Flu, or somewhere in the middle.
