  1. I’m on the Rooker bandwagon too Edit to add, were the Sire(s) of Fort Myers, plural, Thielbar throwing gas seems like a good bet.
  2. considering 30-40% of what’s coming off the books is Odorizzi, it’s not that much....
  3. There's three moderators posted in the thread... laughing, I might add
  4. RE: Cruz. It’s pretty optimistic that one of the Rookies could step in and backfill Cruz. Letting his production go will leave a big gap. It’s a deep lineup and a DH can be had cheaply, but not at the value they got from Cruz. RE: Marwin... Adrianza is already on the roster, and is a free agent too. He’s not replacing Marwin. If you can resign Ehire, losing Marwin isn’t huge, but you gotta resign one of them. My vote is Ehire. That knocks down your total maybe, 12-15 mil, I guess.
  5. Great article, Matt! I think you’ll find similar experiences in the Forums. Many of the hearty TDers live beyond the reaches of Fox Sports North and come here to TD to connect.
  6. yup. I see Marwin as the 4th OF and Astudillo up to start the season as a decent bet.
  7. 91 might have been a better offseason with Chili Davis and Jack Morris, but I could be persuaded that Donaldson and Maeda are a better tandem as an offseason goes, and this was after setting the foundation with Pineda and Odo So if this is in contention with the best offseason in my lifetime, it has to be an A....
  8. Point of clarification: The big league field has concessions on game days, but the back fields do not. And if you can swing a long weekend to Florida, don’t wait. It’s a great experience!
  9. I’d much rather read Warne than LEN3, but Lavelle was all over the Graterol trade, and has a long history of being a good beat reporter.
  10. http://twinsdaily.com/blog/1282/entry-11699-why-jordan-balazovic-has-the-makings-of-an-ace/ I’m really high on Jordy Blaze and so is Nash Walker!
  11. Those rumors were from the equivalent of Brandon Warne. I love Warne, great writer, he’s not LEN3 or Ken Rosenthal. It’s not that Warne, or Thomas Holland or any of us here at TD can’t break news coverage... but I wouldn’t take it as gospel
  12. About 135mil, if spotrac is right. 132 + 13 - 10 https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins//payroll
  13. now you have Berrios, Maeda, and Pineda in your ‘21 rotation. Next offseason, much more feasible to fill out or improve on a potentially very good ‘20 rotation.
  14. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/an-update-on-how-to-value-draft-picks/ According to FG, 67th pick of ‘19 was worth 4.1 mil. Cash could mean some room for the Twins to make a move at the trade deadline
  15. Depending on the second piece from the Twins, Maeda is still a good get. Can’t wait to see this finalized!
  16. http://m.startribune.com/minnesota-twins-dodgers-red-sox-work-toward-finalizing-deal/567710582/?refresh=true Two highlights: “ As of last night, the Twins had added a second minor leaguer to the deal - a player outside their top ten prospects” And “ This also means that the chances that Brusdar Graterol remain a Twin are slim. Personally, I was surprised to see him on the mound yesterday amidst the turmoil surrounding the deal and the Red Sox concerns over his medical information. But he threw his bullpen session despite all of it.”
  17. We don’t know what the alternative prospects offered were. I think it’s highly likely one of the glut of outfield prospects were offered. I’d rather have Graterol than lose too much on a trade for Maeda. I like Maeda, but not at the cost of two top ten pitching prospects. Part of this is the state of the Twins rotation. In the zombie apocalypse, always leave a bullet in the mag to do yourself in before the horde can overtake you. They’re going to have to make more moves. Giving up too much value for Maeda now means not being able to make another trade later.
  18. I’m really excited for Maeda for Graterol as a fair trade. I don’t care about Dodgers and Sox part and the Twins shouldn’t have to pay more to facilitate that trade. If the Dodgers aren’t willing to pay more for Betts and Price the Twins shouldn’t foot that bill.
  19. According to Feinsand, Twins could be in talks with the Dodgers for Maeda independent of Boston. Also, Dodgers and Sox are trying to bring in other teams on the trade. https://mobile.twitter.com/Feinsand/status/1226290283031166976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-37546590552571846850.ampproject.net%2F2001281851410%2Fframe.html
  20. Can the Twins really afford to let Graterol mature in AA and AAA for 1-2 more seasons? They are in win now mode and still only had Pineda and Berrios under contract for 2021. They needed a mid-rotation or better starter. Boston needed another pitching prospect not too far from the majors. Boston can afford to let Graterol build his endurance in the minors for a couple years. Twins could do that, but it wouldn’t necessarily fill their hole in the rotation for 2021, let alone 2020. Seems like each of the three teams got what they needed out of the trade.
  21. I really like Graterol, but Maeda is a very good starter to get back. At first blush, I like this move but it is in no way a “fleecing” in the Twins favor. Seems like a fair trade.
  22. I reinvest my dividends on my employee discounted shares. Man that grew well and is readily accessible as a medium term savings (rather than a long term account like my 401k, Roth, and IRA for retirement). I save for target purchases like a car or home renovations. Getting 10% return on investment in share growth plus the compounding of dividends gets me an extra share per quarter plus the 15% discount means I get a huge premium over a 2% savings account and even greater savings over a home equity or car loan. Just need to sell enough shares to cover my purchase plus capital gains tax. To top it all off, because it’s an employee plan, I can increase my savings rate 1% per year and not even feel it. So if you work for a publicly traded company, take advantage of your benefits!
