stock market downturn or economic downturn?The stock market is not the economy, and for a lot of people, you may not have missed the economic downturn. about 8 weeks ago Kai Ryssdal of Marketplace was asking the big economic minds if the Coronavirus could be the global boom economy’s Black Swan. They couldn’t answer him then, and still couldn’t answer him last week. I’m of the opinion that out metrics of what a “good economy” is, may be out of date. Inflation for instance, largely ignores healthcare spending and groceries, which are the two largest areas of consumer spend in the US. fair enough, his time at 2b last year may have been out of necessity. Arraez really came out of nowhere last year. Let’s see how he gets positioned this year.

Friday was not the bottom, and it will be a slow recovery in China as inbound container ships at the port of LA are down 25% through April. 2020 is going to be a rough year, but I’m still riding it out. For most of my assets it’s not a loss until I sell.

I read it the same way. My strategy in this scenario would be to try to have more relievers get 4-6 outs and try to avoid starting a clean inning.

Marwin does, why can’t Arraez? At this point Marwin is my 4th OF. If Buck gets injured Marwin remains my 4th OF and Cave comes up to play RF, moving Kepler to CF.

I liked the Marwin signing, and I’m not saying he should be cut. I’m all for letting things play out this year. However, Marwin has a career 101 WRC+, Adrianza career 84 WRC+ and Cave (since Marwin’s best defensive positions are LF and 3B) sports a career 111 WRC+. Now looking at last year Marwin 93, Ehire 102, Cave 113. I’m with you on Astudillo, but to me, Astudillo isn’t really in the equation. Looking to 2021 I agree with Jorgen, it’ll be the arrival of Lewis, Blankenhorn, Kirilloff or Larnach that forces the issue on Marwin. -

this. Ehire is a very comparable player with the bat, is a better fielder and should come in at approximately half the price on the free agent market. -

as a shareholder I get to listen in on the earnings call. medical as a whole is about 8 billion of a 33 billion market cap. Masks and avagard are a portion of that 8, not sure how much but probably growing! 3M is one of the worlds largest producers of surgical/face masks and respirators, but it’s highly diversified, using/manufacturing the same IP into many different markets. It’s a bellwether stock, part of why it’s not getting hammered right now is it’s taken a beating over the last year.

Ticker MMM maker of Avagard and surgical face masks has been doing less bad than other Dow stocks lately. That dang PFAS monkey on their back will hinder things for a while though...

Good OP! I agree, the managers that have the guts to more regularly stretch relievers an extra out will succeed with the new rule. Managers that cling to the traditional reliever roles may struggle

Watching The Hunters on Prime. I enjoy it, but it’s a difficult watch, switching between 70’s stylish “Shaft” meets spy type and the pain of being a Holocaust survivor. -
