  1. Moran taking the option train back down?
  2. Very happy for him. I hope his fun ride lasts for a while.
  3. I'm certainly ready to give Stewart more chances. Looked great last night.
  4. Mahle, Lopez, Gray, Ryan. I've never seen any Twins rotation that comes remotely close to that, in 55 years of paying attention. Wow.
  5. When was the last time a Twins starter retired 23 in a row?
  6. Jose Berrios is really fighting it. 0-2, ERA of 11.17, WHIP of 1.86. Batting average against of .349. I feel sorry for the guy.
  7. I was listening on the radio and wondered how Bregman only got a single on a ball off the RF wall. Then I watched the clip and saw Gallo's throw. Holy mackerel. That's an arm. I'm 62 yrs old and it's kind of embarrassing how happy the 10th inning made me feel. Great win.
  8. Wait, how do we decide who WON THIS TRADE???
  9. Wow- May is 33, Gibson is 35. Wow. Time flies.
  10. It was really fun to watch both of them pitch. Here's hoping Kenta can keep it going, that was great to see. And Rocco took Pagan out of the game while I still had three fingernails left, so that was good too.
  11. They've already sent him to the Guardians for Will Benson (OF), Benson was the surprise of spring training and made the big league roster, but he's currently 0-12 with 9 K's so that might have been premature.
  12. No, we should definitely hold our prospects forever, that's the way to build a winning team. We could have 12 good infielders and they could take turns pitching.
  13. Mitch Garver caught for Texas on Saturday, went 2-4, 2 HR, 6 RBIs. DH'd on Sunday, 1-3. Hope he has a good year...most games.
  14. I believe there are laws that protect the identity of the pooch under these circumstances, and in any case I'd rather that discussions of this kind of behavior be kept out of press conferences as much as possible.
  15. It's also night and day to any Twins pitching staff for at least the last 45 years.
  16. Also if I ever get to Fort Myers you won't be able to make me try a cheeseburger.
  17. I've heard through a source that Jontu is also planning to start some kind of pickleball NIL program. Based on what I've heard, I strongly discourage anyone but players from the Guardians and Whitesox from buying one. Or even reading the e-brochure.
  18. Bartender, please buy my friend another and I'll have what he's having. Looks like it's working pretty well.
  19. He had been a catcher before he was drafted, true. His first year he played 22 games at catcher, 27 games at 1B, and 7 in RF. Then it was exclusively 1B.
  20. Yes, I like Hall of Famers too...the really elite athletes often stick at a top position, but an awful lot of the other players move around. Add Cuddyer to the list of Twins shortstops-who-weren't-shortstops. It took him a while to work his way to being a successful right fielder. I think this is just a constant part of baseball. Harmon never had a position, at least not until the DH was created. Rod Carew was moved from second to first. Justin Morneau was a first baseman, but of course that's where you put someone who can't really play any other position so I don't think that counts.
  21. I looked at Twins starters going back through 2010. Now I have PTSD. It's been rare for the Twins to have even three good starters through a season. Our starting pitching is substantially better than the Twins have in, roughly, forever. We don't have a Johan Santana, true. We also don't appear to have anyone with an expectation for anything like the pitchers we've been using to start anywhere from 10-25 games a year. It's really amazing looking back and seeing how many teams had guys with terrible ERAs and high numbers of starts. Examples: Blackburn, 2010 5.42/26 Duensing, 2011 5.23/28 Blackburn, 2012 7.39/19 Hendriks, 2012 5.59/16 Walter, 2012 5.69/12 Pelfrey, 2013 5.19/20 Diamond, 2013 5.43/24 Hernandez, 2013 6.83/12 and on and on. I'm looking forward to this rotation. Even with the obligatory usual injuries this looks like a really solid group.
  22. I think having Correa signed to a long-term deal is a big upgrade to him on a one-year deal, which is all last year was. I think he worked hard last year and was team-focused, but I think that's going to be even stronger this year. We've upgraded in numerous ways, as noted above. I'm going to miss Luis as a fan, but I don't think he's irreplaceable at all. Remember all the comments about where he might play? We've got guys in all those places. No more bar altercations, please.
  23. Thank you. I'm not sure how many appearances you are expecting from him this year, but I'd like to bet the under, please.
