  1. I wonder how late it is at night when Bowden plugs in his Random Names To Trade generator and starts writing down what spews out. Really late, probably.
  2. I expect regression, sure. But I really hope they don’t regress to last year.
  3. One slight adjustment should be made- one of the times he was thrown out was when he ran toward second in an attempt to get a throw so Buck could score from third. They threw down, he was out, the Twins scored the run. Not his fault- that has to have been called from the dugout.

  6. I would like to see a two-week moratorium on Wallner tapping his helmet.
  7. CES got waived, Steven Hajjar retired after spending 3 years in A+ leagues, and Steer's WAR has gone from 2.9 to 1.5 to 0.7 and so far this year is at -0.4. His OPS plus has gone from 117 to 96 to 94 to this year's tiny-sample-size 40. Tyler Mahle in the meantime currently is 0-2 for the Giants in 3 starts, with an ERA of 4.35 and a WHIP of 1.6. Since the trade in 2022 he's pitched a total of 156 innings over 3 full seasons and parts of 2 others. I'm prepared to just forget this whole thing ever happened rather than dragging it back and forth over some pretty dead coals..
  8. The thumbs down aren't because it is wrong. It's because the point of the thread was looking for bright spots. You can read this comment or 1,000 others just like it in virtually every other thread. Try to follow along.

  10. Here's a quick update as to who is playing and how well, in this tiny sample. I still cheer for (most of) these guys. I may well have missed 10 or 15 relievers from the last couple of years. Ex-Twins Hitters (qualified) Name AB AVG OBP OPS Luke Raley 14 .286 .333 1.262 Carlos Correa 23 .304 .385 .733 Jorge Polanco 15 .200 .400 .667 Harrison Bader 19 .158 .158 .526 Luis Arraez 19 .211 .238 .449 Brent Rooker 21 .190 .190 .380 Carlos Santana 16 .063 .167 .292 Spencer Steer 13 .077 .188 .265 Others Edouard Julien 8 .125 .125 .375 Rob Refsnyder 8 0 0 0 Gary Sanchez 6 .500 .625 2.125 Christian Vasquez 3 .333 .500 .833 Kyle Farmer, Ty France, Mitch Garver, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are all hitless but with very little playing time.
  11. Well, it’s a three-game sample. It might be possible to improve on it. I guess it depends on how old you are.
  12. Ober with 3 scoreless. Let's go Bailey clap-clap-clapclapclap!
  13. I'm looking forward to more stolen bases. Hopefully a lot more stolen bases.
  14. Naw, go for the "Mystery Box", that should work. This box contains at least 5 players, 3 of whom have more than 4 weeks in the major. At least 1 player is a pitcher, at least 2 are infielders. What am I bid for this "Mystery Box"? You know teams are gonna bite on that deal. An auction should generate something great, like, I don't know, $25k?
  15. There's at least a chance that a couple of these young players develop. It's worth taking, compared to hoping older relievers get young again.
  16. Joe might still be able to make the team as a first baseman.
  17. I just hope it's a slump. Otherwise it's his new reality. That would be really bad.
  18. Oh, that 1980 had even less hope. The starting lineup had 3 players- Castino, Smally, and Wynegar- who ended up with a WAR above 1.1. Next-best was Rob Wilfong. Two full-year starters had negative WAR (Ken Landreaux and Rick Sofield) and the two DHs (Glenn Adams, Jose Morales) combined for a WAR of 0.6. This team had Rivera, Powell, Norwood, Mackanin, Vega, Faedo- all household names, for the wrong reasons. The bullpen had Doug Corbett and the ghost of Mike Marshall. The team went 77-84, somehow. They were even worse in 1981, where a strike mercifully reduced the amount of Twins baseball. The record that year was 41-68. There must have been some bad luck, though, because their Pythagorean record was 42-67... I remember that era mostly for a couple of Billy Gardner comments. One player, Rick Sofield, was complaining about playing time and saying there were a few teams that wanted him if the Twins weren't going to play him. Gardner said something along the lines of "The only teams that want him are the Army and the Marines." I really hope this year doesn't devolve into that kind of disaster. It wasn't like 1985, where we had a bad record with good, inexperienced young players. In 1981 it was a bad record with a combination of has-been veterans and never-became young players.
  19. Alex Kiriloff is selling real estate in South Florida. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7129303/2026/03/19/twins-alex-kirilloff-second-career-real-estate/
  20. Atteberry thinks the highlight of his broadcasts is how he can refer to the name of a players high school team. Here comes Bradford to the plate, the former Tiger from East Central High School. Idiotic.
  21. I’m happy for him, as my note above shows. The Twins have no business letting him do play by play, though. I wonder if any of the Pohlads have ever listened to a broadcast?
