  1. Yet another case of an ex-Twin having a mediocre season playing his brains out against us. See Schoop, Jonathan. Maybe if people played their hardest all the time...
  2. None of these things are unreasonable. However, if the goal is to win a playoff series, then getting 85 wins by playing .500 the rest of the year and sneaking into the third wild card spot is not very reassuring. We need the health to get better and stay better, we need to play more consistently, and we need another arm to emerge in the bullpen as a reliable major league reliever. Two would be nice.
  3. I will definitely bet the over on Perez. And the under on Cron.
  4. So far Wells has had two good starts, two dreadful starts, and one adequate start. Naturally one of is good starts was against a bunch of former teammates. Let's check in with him in July and see how things are going. I'll bet on Paddack.
  5. The Goldy Shuffle! Murray Oliver, Cesar Maniago...I loved saying that name.
  6. He's looking great so far. Here's how he compares to Graterol in the first three weeks: JD 8 appearances, 12 innings, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 19 K, 0.833 WHIP BG 9 appearances, 8 innings, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, 5 BB, 9 K, 1.125 WHIP I was really excited by Brusdar's stuff, but Jhoan is pretty spectacular.
  7. Much to my surprise, the Griffin Jax To The Bullpen Experiment looks like it has a real chance to succeed. Very happy to see it.
  8. The offense looked bad, but Kopech looked like what he's been sold as, and it was his third exceptional start in a row. It isn't all on the offense (this time).
  9. "Just randomly thinking" pretty well sums up the value of the tweet.
  10. One reason TK did that was to keep other players from rusting on the bench. I never liked the way he did it all at once, but giving Correa a day off also lets someone else have some extra ABs and maybe break out a little bit (not that any of that actually happened on that particular day). It's a long season.
  11. To beat the Dodgers, you have to hope their pitching isn't working, and avoid their best hitters. Unfortunately, the pitching almost always works and their hitters are all really good. I didn't learn much about the Twins over the last two days that I didn't already know. We will struggle to beat the Dodgers, and so will everyone else a lot of days. Seattle was almost a playoff team. I want to see how we do against some other teams before I panic too much Oh yeah, and I want to replace at least three guys in the bullpen.
  12. I gotta say, if you had given me the actual ERA outcome on the first five starters before the season started, I would have definitely bet the Over and started dreaming about how to spend my winnings. Let's hope they can build on this.
  13. Please don't violate the temporal prime directive. We're begging here.
  14. I'm really, really surprised about Larnach. I guess they want him to OPS 1.000 for a little while and make sure his swing his back. I hope he fights his way to the majors soon.
  15. This gives us twice as many chances to find a solid starter on the cheap. Maybe we go 0-2, but we have more opportunity to have at least 1. And all it "cost" us was a little money and moving Thorpe off the roster but keeping him in the organization, in case that ends up being worth anything. This buys us time, maybe a little but maybe a lot, to see what else is out there, and to see whether any of the minor leaguers are ready to step up. I agree with RiverBrian, the only big problem here is if both Archer and Bundy are ineffective and we keep riding them hoping they improve. We need a short leash. If something doesn't work, doing it harder with more enthusiasm is not a great strategy.
  16. This is even better than that time we signed...well...anyone ever.
  17. I picked the wrong off-season to stop sniffing glue.
  18. I could only watch the first 1:30 of the Sanchez clip. That was absolutely brutal. I would have laughed if only he were still a Yankee. Maybe he needs a really, really big glove? An insulated trash can lid, perhaps?
  19. We'll see. Hitters don't usually go from bad to good at this stage in their careers, but they do sometimes go from good to bad to good again. I'm antsy. You give us 3 trades in a day and a half and now nothing? Quit ghosting us, Front Office!
