  1. Love Polo, but I think his career is ending fast. 300 ABs last year? He hit .190 in the playoffs, sure only six games but they counted. What did we think we could get for him? I might just wait until a few games into spring training at least before declaring the season over.
  2. Thanks. It certainly would be a different team if all three of those guys could play to there potential. Or even two of them. Or even just Byron. Hey, I'm begging here.
  3. Fun speculation. However, without Joe the Twins probably wouldn't have traded AJ, would they? In that case, they wouldn't have had Nathan or Liriano.
  4. Yeah, plus there's the problem of a warping space-time continuum. People forget that, but it's a huge deal to those of us who pay attention.
  5. And wherever he is. Regardless, I'm confident he is currently in The Best Shape of His Life (c)
  6. His mother strongly concurs with the "underrated" assessment. I will just hope for continued improvement.
  7. Well, completely sitting out two seasons biases that statistic quite a bit. If he gets 0 this season he probably won't start or relieve. So if we assume the 125 is a real number, then what?
  8. Two quick anecdotes: the first from 1972 but that team isn't going to make the list. I was in the backyard playing and listening to a day game broadcast (they were mostly day games). Harmon hit the home run that passed Jimmie Foxx on the all-time list. Herb made the call joyously, and then said "Halsey, did you ever think Harmon would pass Jimmie Foxx?" There were a couple of beats and a surprisingly (for him) low-key Halsey Hall said "I didn't think anyone was going to pass Jimmie Foxx." He sounded a little shocked. Foxx was second all-time when he retired, and I think it was only Ruth, Mays, and Mantle (who the Killer passed a few days later) who were ahead of Foxx at the time, though Frank Robinson was catching up fast. What company. For those of you who didn't ever get to hear Halsey Hall, he was a legend. He started covering Minnesota sports and baseball in general for the newspaper in 1927 and doing radio broadcasts in 1934. Second, and this one is from 1970, I was a young lad getting some eyeglasses at the optician and this guy in deep red bellbottoms, long sideburns, and a long leather jacket was sitting, waiting his turn. When I went to pick my glasses, the guy helping me said "That's Rich Reese. The Twins are having him get glasses to see if that's the problem with his hitting." I don't think it helped, unfortunately. He was one of my favorite players, probably in part because as a nine-year-old I was drawn to alliterative names.
  9. One of the female-type androids in Bladerunner.
  10. You forgot to mention Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn getting grabbed by the Cardinals. Although I have no idea what that means, except I'll be betting the over in Total Runs Allowed.
  11. Sure, the guy has an OPS+ of 167 at age 26, and the Twins refuse to sign him to a new deal. Probably too expensive. Cheap Pohlads! Just had to say it.
  12. I look forward to him coming to camp in The Best Shape Of His Life (tm)
  13. Gotta give Louie another chance as a starter. He'll still be a really good bullpen piece later. We, and everyone else on the planet, needs starters more.
  14. I'm more than OK with trading for a very good pitcher, but I would need to see a really good deal before trading for someone with just one year before free agency.
  15. It would be fun to watch a healthy Kirilloff. Here's hoping.
  16. It's also interesting to see what those teams did in July. Texas traded for: Jordan Montgomery Max Scherzer along with Kevin Plawecki (who was later released), Chris Stratton, and Austin Hedges Arizona traded for: Paul Sewald Tommy Pham Jace Peterson along with Peter Strzelecki
  17. Keith Law has a piece in The Athletic on his recent week at the AFL and some players that caught his eye. No Twins were mentioned. He bemoaned the dismal state of AFL pitching overall.
  18. Kiriloff has to be injured again or they couldn’t have made the change.
  19. TRIGGER WARNING Eddie Rosario, 2017-2020 Twins: 5/23. .217 BA, .522 SP Eddie Rosario, 2021 Braves: 23/60, .383 BA, .617 SP Eddie Rosario, 2022-23 Braves (so far): 1/12, .083 BA, .083 SP 😬
  20. Throw it in on his hands. You don't need to hit him, but interrupt his swing. Do it four times hard in his first at bat, let him take his base, and then let him think about it in subsequent at bats.
  21. New start time, 6:07 pm CDT
