  1. Well, something must be up with Buxton. Over his last 10 games he's 4 for 34, and his batting average has plummeted from .290 to .228, and how OPS is down almost 200 points. Something isn't right.
  2. Cleveland's 1st rounder from 2021 was pitching for Lake County, Gavin Williams, and he looks like a good one: works with a 97 mph fastball he can get up to 99, and an array of breaking balls.
  3. I've been hiding out in Cedar Rapids the last couple nights, watching the Kernels. There wasn't much to get excited about Wednesday, but last night was a blast. There was a big wind bowing out to left, and the Kernels took advantage. Povich was indeed masterly, denying the Captains through 5+. Willie Joe Garry impressed me - both nights he took good at bats, and stung the ball deep into several at bats, and was rewarded last night with 2 triples. Encarnacion-Strand can flat out hit. Sabato surprised me by taking balls up the middle and to right for base-hits. He didn't look the pull-hitter strikeout machine I expected. He clowns around and seems to have a lot of fun over at 1st base. Javier - I think this is the 3rd year in a row I find him here. He sure can field, nice and smooth out there. Had a homer as well. Unfortunately his bat is unlikely to play higher up.
  4. I like the move in the short term because Lewis continues to play SS, which is clearly his long-term place on the field after watching his debut. Gee whiz, the Twins somehow signed one of the best SS on the planet in the off-season for record money, gotta give him priority. There are underwhelming guys still on the roster, but none of them play SS. Gordon can give Correa the day off once in a while, and Buxton too. Gordon is the 21st-Century Denny Hocking
  5. Pagan has averaged 2.5 BB per 9 innings over his career of 275 IP. This season it's 10.6 0ver a whopping 7 innings. He's going through a patch, but we are dealing with an aberration, and a very small sample size.
  6. I doubt the Twins are the only team gonna be affected by this.
  7. Interesting fact: Paddack, in spite of loads more experience, is about a year and a half younger than Wells.
  8. A win today would push them over .600.
  9. Joe Ryan doesn’t give up a lot of hits, and strikes out a lot of batters, 2 of my favorite old-school stats. Over parts of 3 minor league seasons, from his debut to last season: 226 IP, 143 H, 325K Those are crazy great numbers. MLB so far: 50IP, 26H, 55K. He also keeps the walks under control. WHIP the last 3 years: .841, .788 minors, .788 majors, and .this season’s absurd .696. Who knows, maybe he’s getting better!
  10. Watched the Mets down to their last strike yesterday rally from 0-2 to a 5-2 win on a festival of Cardinal mistakes. This is right there with it on the shelf of "Why Baseball Can Be Fun to Watch."
  11. Was it just a week ago the Twins were in last place? This 4 game winning streak came at a great time. Being in 1st in the Central is nice, but not being last and digging a big losing hole is really what I was hoping for. It's a long season, and you don't want all hope to be gone before summer. I'd say this week went a long way towards that, sweeping the predominant AL Central favorites while they played sloppy losing baseball.
  12. I know the season is young, and change is possible, but some of you owe Bundy an apology, at least for April. He's making it look easy.
  13. Was gonna reply to this when I first read it, but after today, Joe Ryan might be a wee bit more than a placeholder
  14. As an add to what the Twins already got, like it a lot.
  15. Swing and miss is Matt Lecroy over David Ortiz. Sano over Cron is more like a foul ball.
  16. Great headline ? Hopefully TC Bear can get some teeth with his new team.
  17. I'd give them an A+. Haven't seen much lockout bitterness since the Correa signing.
  18. Rocco gets a ton of credit for this happening, from Correa's account of the negotiation.
  19. Correa is, as far as I can tell, only the 4th Carlos ever to play for the Twins. Carlos Gomez of course, Carlos Silva, and if you remember 1994 or 2003-4, Carlos Pulido. The Senators also only had 3, including Camilo Pascual's less successful smaller, older brother Carlos.
  20. Wow, if anything, the Twins have made this fanbase forget about the lockout. Never seen the like in crazy deals. BTW, getting out from under Donaldson's contract is a good move. MIRANDA time!
