    Kind of surprised (and happy) to find out that the Twins have 4 more years of control on Joe Ryan after this season. His career line so far reads like a season of a Cy Young contender: 20-9 3.50 ERA 205.2 IP 153 hits allowed 217 K 56 BB etc.

    Machado is good money now at 17 mil for a 30 year old. But at age 34 his pay gets bumped to 39 million and will stay there until he turns 40. Ouch. Same with Bogearts. 30 years old, 25 million per until he is 40. Tatis will make 36 million from age 30 to 35. Darvish will be making 15 million or so until he is in his 40s. Musgrove and Croenworth have team friendly contracts by comparison, but are also 30ish, and will also make bank on the downside. Soto has 2 more years of team control, and who knows. My point is that the Padres have built their hopes on guys 30 or older supplemented by a couple young studs. Their window is now, because when 36-40 year old Boegarts and Machado are gobbling up 64 million per, and much other money has been tied into contracts like that of Darvish, and lots of good prospects have been traded away, it isn't really a model of sustainability. If they don't win something in the next few years, they are hosed for a long time.

    Not to mention guys that could come back from injury, namely Paddack and Canterino.

    Glad to have these reports back. I've been digging the inclusion of Twins affiliates on MLB. Some of the MiLB camerawork is wonky, but I can now say I've seen Willie Joe Garry on TV.

    I'm looking forward to my annual trip down to Cedar Rapids. Fun baseball experience down there.

    I'd never really heard of this guy, so I looked him up on Baseball Reference. He was drafted out of high school the same year the Twins took Cavaco out of high school, but 17 positions later, 30th overall. The guy has been a consensus top 20 prospect the last 2 years. Grumble about the Yankees all you want, but they do draft/sign and develop prospects pretty well.

    Switched to these guys last year. Got free MLBTV, free Apple TV, free Paramount+, free MLS package. And for half the price of my previous provider.

    Credit to Falvine for bringing in Taylor and Gallo on relatively cheap deals. Best kind of insurance, with some potential offensive upside as well. Wow would I love the Twins to become a pitching defense speed team.

    I'm old enough to remember when thrown out runner % was an important stat for a catcher, and 20-30% was elite. Looking at baseball reference, 2 former Twin catchers with excellence in the area: Kurt Suzuki at 23.5 and... Gary Sanchez. 33.9. Historically, Damien Miller, Terry Steinbach, Phil Roof, Butch Wynegar, Earl Battey excelled. Wynegar and Battey were over 40% Back when speed was equal to power, pretty impressive.

    Much has been made of the fact that Lee played for his Dad. My point is that it doesn't guarantee anything.

    I remember one of the Twins 1st rounders in the late 90s, I believe it was Ryan Mills, was also the son of a manager. Didn't work out in his case.

    If I lived up there and had the time, I would love to spend a day watching high-level college baseball in comfort, if for the novelty alone.

    Seems to me like Buxton and Correa will be top 3. I'd like a bopper in that 4 spot, and as near as I can tell, Miranda? A Cruz-like cleanup would be awesome. What are the Twins planning here?

    And Judge was even later. Not saying it can't happen, but more often than not it doesn't.

    Yeah he was a 1st round pick, but 27th overall. Busts aplenty at that point in the draft for all teams.

    I see Solano and the IF equivalent to Taylor. Depth is good - so many times the Twins rely on youngsters as depth, only to have them get hurt. Then you get Garlick, Cave and Co as the last resort. Having guys with MLB experience, even awards, is good. I understand why they signed Farmer when it looked like Correa was gone, but he seems more superfluous than either Solano or Taylor. Providing real competition for prospects is better than handing them a position.

    Healthy Twins mop up the floor with the AL Central. Not quite a "hot take." Lotsa pitching, and Buxton and Correa at the heart of the offense, I am optimistic. Wait, is it spring yet?

    I hadn't realized that Lee is a switch hitter. That's a nice bonus. Does he hit with the same power from both sides?

    How would Prielipp compare to the lefty the Twins traded for Mahle, Steve Hajjar?

    I like the fact that there are lots of international signings in these lists. Whether it because you are paying more attention to them, or they are just better than in years past, it's nice to see.

    Hard to say a guy coming off TJ has a "fresh" arm , but with only 80 or so innings on it, Canterino could become a bullpen beast when he recovers, if not a starter.
