  1. Go big or go home? Looks like the Twins will go big AND go home.
  2. Mercedes, Rodriguez and Acuna look great. Hitting on some of these guys would be a nice boost.
  3. Saw some Will Holland on my trip to Cedar Rapids in May, and he looked a very athletic ballplayer. He was playing a very good CF. Love to see the bat come to life.
  4. Julien has long been a favorite under the radar prospect of mine. Also Will Holland, and Misael Urbina.
  5. Petty, Haljar, Povich, Gipson-Long traded. Canterino, Winder hurt. Enlow and Sands have battled injuries Balazovic struggling. Hard to develop a pitching pipeline wit all those leaks.
  6. !@#$% this. I feel like I am being trolled here. Correa has been a great add to this team. Superstar for the money? Nope. However, without him I think this was a losing season. Stopgap or long-term, still an amazing move by the front office, to give this injury riddled team a chance of relevance. Remember where the Twins finished in 2021.
  7. Just keep winning series. That mentality can win you something.
  8. If the grade is solely based on addressing glaring weaknesses, they did A work with Fulmer and especially Lopez. The Twins have 19 blown saves this year out of 40 save opportunities, darn near half. They addressed that in spades. If the grade is based on asset management, maybe a little lower goes the grade: that was one hell of a shopping spree, and the system took a mighty blow. However, proven MLB talent trumps potential, so what the hell.
  9. After years of being a prospect hoarder, I've slowly turned the page, and am fine with the day's proceedings. Seems like the wheat grows up from nothing: neither Arraez nor Miranda were overhyped as prospects via the rankings, and they have become 2 of the best Twins at 25 and 24. Losing Povich and Hajjar kinda hurts. Encarnacion-Strand and Steer too. We might have lost Viola and Gaetti today, or Serafini and Moses. Whatever.
  10. They drafted a good lefty pitcher in this last draft, as well as some good hitting and fielding infielders. If they keep drafting well, they can keep making this kind of deal.
  11. Here's hoping this Bird in hand will be worth 4 in the bush, bush leagues that is. Addressing your #1 need with no immediate cost, lots to like. I did watch Povich pitch in Cedar Rapids, and he does look like a goodie. Wish him and the others well.
  12. Twins selling while in 1st place sounds like a good recipe for establishing a losing culture. Better to win a division and make the post-season than not, every time. Nobody expected the Twins to win it all in 87 or 91 either.
  13. Competent bullpen arms for non top-10 prospects: our pen has cost so much in the win column, just the ability to get through an inning would be welcome, especially with the manager and staff's dependence on relief pitching.
  14. Thanks Jeremy. Pretty nice to get your first 18 of 20 signed sealed and delivered, even sneaking a few HS players in there on day 3. And thanks Doc for a great post
  15. Well according to Twins Daily's own draft tracker, picks 1-18 are all signed. https://twinsdaily.com/minnesota-twins-draft-picks/2022/ MLBs draft tracker shows picks 1-3 are signed https://www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/2022/all/team/twins
  16. Certainly a possibility - they were the team I feared most coming into the season, not the Guardians. If they get going, game over.
  17. That would be the definition of going all in with your pants down: Correa, then Ohtani. Wouldn't that be fun? As I recall, the Twins were a finalist on him, no?
  18. Interesting reading this thread. Was just looking over his career numbers on baseball reference: just 7 years ago he finished 3rd in the AL rookie of the year, albeit by a mile, to winner Carlos Correa, then Lindor. But after the anticipatory hype, he flashed 18 HR, 52 RBI, .916 OPS in a half season of work as a 22 year old, and it looked like superstardom was in the cards. All Star at 24, with 2 20+ homer seasons under his belt. A monster 26 year old season in 2019 with career high 34 homers, and a .923 OPS. Since then, bupkis. His whiffs create a breeze like the storied blower fans at the Metrodome. I watched this guy's career play out - I couldn't have been higher on a prospect in 2015. Let's just say, it hasn't worked out as expected.
  19. Division titles have some small merit, as do playoff appearances. So hell no. CC has been a treat to watch as a Twin. Why throw the chance at the post season away, or months of watching this guy as our shortstop? Assets are great, but all CC cost was money. I hope he decides to stay another year. They could be a hot streak away from a World Series.
  20. Sounds like a student of the game, and willing to dive into data on opposing pitchers. I hope that approach continues to serve him well.
  21. Buxton is one of the most photogenic guys when playing the game. He has a classic natural, joyful look. Even when he whiffs, he heads back to the dugout with a "how about that" look on his face.
  22. Yeah, but we drafted one - draft DNA is strong.
  23. Somewhat toolsy HS outfielder coming in at 20, and the draft is complete.
  24. For those wanting a catcher, Nate Baez of Arizona State is still available.
