    He would be one of our 3 best pitchers. He’s so far from an ace he can’t even see it from there.

    Why rebuild now? They are close to what I would consider the best way to construct a lineup. Some proven veterans with a farm system that produces 1-2 new starters every year. Whenever you add a Bunche of rookies all at once you likely age going to lose for a while. Pitching is a different story and I don’t really know what to say. They won’t invest free agent dollars or high draft picks for it and are poor at drafting and developing them. Anyway they have three decent starters on their last year. Let’s see what we can do.

    I dont what their plans are. No I don’t want Bundy pitching more innings which I never said. I want more innings pitched by good pitchers and I guess I don’t care anymore if it comes from a really good pen.

    This is what I have come to believe as well. If they are sticking with the no to the third time through the order strategy then giving a front line starter $100 million probably doesn’t make sense. Build an excellent bullpen and win that way. We’ve got a good start: if we add 2 relievers at the Fulmer or better level we might have something. And it certainly is something they can afford to do.

    I’m not an expert but do have some experience in contractual matters. I’m guessing the deal isn’t complete without the physicals. Hence Correas ability to immediately sign with the Mets.

    Yea it does. If San Fran signed him assuming the contract would be insured and suddenly it’s not - that’s a whole different equation.

    The idea that SF suddenly got cold feet is silly. They had plenty of time to thoroughly consider the signing. The most plausible explanation is they wanted to insure the contract and the insurance company had an issue with the medicals.

    It’s not about taxes! He can make an absolute killing in endorsements in nyc. Tax rates are non factor in the overall equation.

    Plus the endorsement opportunities dwarf any difference in taxes. I can’t even imagine how much money he is going to make in nyc outside of his contract.

    This the mantra I’ve been beating to death. Put players in their best long term position so they can develop into the best fielder possible. Martin could be a plus player in the bigs but probably at 2nd or left field. Just play him there right now.

    Martin wasn’t even the starting SS on his college team. No scout says he has a chance to play short in the bigs. Why our FO continues to play him there is another of the many things I don’t understand.

    This is the most plausible explanation. They almost certainly are going to insure the contract and the insurance company is going to have a much tighter view on what is acceptable.

    It’s time to find out what Lewis can do. He was the first player taken in the draft so he has some level of ability. It’s also important from the standpoint of maximizing an asset. If he plays a position other than short then his value is substantially less.

    That’s one of his challenges: a front office that doesn’t believe in him. I would give him a boatload of time at SS in spring training and see what happens.

    Yea I’m still skeptical. It’s not been the MO of the Twins to invest substantial dollars to starting pitching and Gray will get substantial dollars.

    Less years for Gray but less AAV? Not sure.

    I see references to extending either of the pitchers. This FO wouldn’t extend Berrios who was younger better and more durable. Why the hell would they extend these guys? The only logical reason is they really don’t have a plan.

    I’ve got news for you. They’ve been stepping back without knowing it. If they blow it up Falvine has to go. You want those guys overseeing a rebuild?

    Smartest guys in the room syndrome. Can’t make the obvious move gotta go with what my model tells me.

    Ahhh…..the infamous pivot. The signature move of the Twins. No tap dancing just the quick pivot. They are so adept they can pivot to the right and they can pivot to the left. At this point it’s choreographed into a slick dance move swallowed whole by their fans. Sad truth is that the pivot is only used to avoid onrushing opportunities.

    Who cares. The alternative is watching the Pohlad family count their money. I want Rodon and the risk more than I want a $120 million payroll.
