  1. Yes finally a good win. Let's see. We only managed 6 hits, went 1 for 9 with RISP. We did some good things, like winning. It was. I believe, the only win on the homestead. We still only have 2 more wins than the lowly White Sox. I am glad we won. But let's not get too carried away here. Just as people say it's only one game no big deal when they lose, the same can be said of winning. It was a nice win but only if we build on it. Go Twins
  2. Another classic example of over analyzing aspects of baseball to create a story. The geek heads have taken over the sport these past few seasons and MLB isn't better for it. The best thing about this article was use of the word ameliorate. Well done.
  3. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Another early season disaster. It's OK. Rocco says games this early don't matter. It's obvious when only 17,000 made it to the game tonight and 15,000 the previous night. Were talking the Dodgers here. Not the Royals. Right now the team is very boring just like last year's start. It's tough to play such rotten boring baseball that people don't go. A very poor spring training didn't excite the fan base much. It continues to bore us the first 9 games. Go Twins!!
  4. Let's not blame the Twins poor start to injuries. Yes the pitching staff has been hit hard with injuries. Yet the pitching continues to be an otherwise bright spot. Losing Lewis hurts. Kepler also but not as much. We need offensive help as well. Any retread hitters want to give us a try?
  5. Great article. It certainly explains Julien. What explains the rest of the players malaise? Correa and Kiriloff seem to be about the only offense on the team. So what theories explain each of the other players? Maybe they just aren't as good as all the hype?
  6. As always Baldelli makes questionable moves. Like pulling Ober after 5 innings and only 68 pitches plus he was rolling. Especially since the bullpen has already been overworked. The platoon pinch hitting is fun. Margot got 2 of the three hits including a homerun but was pinch hit for by that Wallner who has a propensity to strike out. So he struck out. The article blames in part the soft hits the dodgers got and poor home plate umpiring again. The pitching, with all the injuries, has done remarkably well. The offense is in its usual I don't care it's early season mode. This team doesn't have any fire. As normal they say games in April don't matter. Well maybe the fans realize it too. Only 15,000 showed up to see the mighty Dodgers. Great job Twins. Let's make Tuesday no doz night. All fans receive the caffeine pills to try to stay awake.
  7. Yes the home plate umpiring has been going downhill for quite some time. Saturdays "performance" was a joke. Quite honestly that umpire should have been suspended or demoted. Hopefully someone talked to him about his game calling. 22 missed strikes with 19 against the Twins is not very good. However bad the Twins offensive performance has been I find it equally as bad as people blaming wallner and other twin hitters for the terrible calls. After watching a lot of games around the league the home plate umpiring is a big topic around baseball. Right up there with all the injuries to pitchers.
  8. Very nice article. Well thought out. I don't know what to make of the Twins situation. I'm very glad that some of the other central division teams are showing life. The Twins need the competition. What is annoying to me is their lack of energy and telling us the games in April don't matter because it's so early. They were flat and unproductive in spring training and continue at the start of the season. The all or nothing approach at the plate is great when it's working but very boring when it is not which is most of the time.
  9. Well I agree the home plate umpire yesterday was terrible! For a while there I though it must have been Angel Hernandez because no one is worse then him. But I was wrong. He so much added to the frustration of another non productive day at the park. But it's OK. Remember these games in April don't count lol. A previous poster was right. This is the way they played fir 2/3 of season last year. It's despicable. Pitching has been pretty decent but the team as a whole has been very flat. Just like their flat spring training. Oh that's right spring training doesn't matter either, I keep forgetting. But at least the poor umpiring was enable for Morneau to start with excuses early and frequently throughout the game about why the Twins offense could do nothing. Otherwise he wouldn't have had much to talk about.
  10. I get a kick out of how the announcers on Thursday almost justify the Twins poor play by their early schedule. They said they had a long spring training( yes finishing with the second worst record in all of spring training makes it long) then had to open in Kansas City and Milwaukee before returning home. Good grief! The Guardians had just flown in from playing on the west coast. They had spring training too I believe lol. Then they had to come to Target field for the Twins home opener in front of a big crowd and they hadn't had a day off like the Twins. They outplayed our Twi s. Come on, stop with the lame excuses.
  11. Good article. It's very early but so far the results are meh. I'm guessing gullible people like me are to blame. We feed off all their over hype and believe they care and are good. They are what they are: a middling ball club that has the great advantage of playing in such a mediocre division. Go Twins.
  12. Great article Seth. A very mediocre team with a very mediocre manager is a terrible combination. Way too many opportunities wasted. Way too many strikeouts. Way too many excuses made . Go Twins!
  13. Only 4 games in and Twins are 2-2 but already look flat. Remember they had the second worst spring training record besting the lowly White Sox by one game. Rocco continues to prove why he is one of the poorest managers in baseball. Poor lineups, poor pitching decisions. Why not challenge the play on first in the 9th inning on the double play? It was very close and at that stage of the game would have cost the team nothing. It's sad that that the highligh of the day was Buxton nearly getting run into by one of the sausage racers. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of coverage it got. Go Twins.
  14. The offense really hasn't done much from spring training. The giveaway games Rocco has each year started early this year. That's my big beef with him. It's Not losing some games it's his propensity to throw in the towel early and at times run out an inferior lineup. A lot of us wont go to sunday home games because of this. Anyway it is what it is. I know spring training doesn't matter ( they keep telling us that) but they did finish with the second worst record in all of spring training. Only the woeful White Sox had a worse record. Let's see what happens by end of April.
  15. Funny how things go. It used to be for starters to avoid 300 innings. It wasn't unusual at all for most starters to go well beyond 200 innings. Now if they approach 200 innings we worry their arm is going to fall off. And it probably will. We pay starting pitchers historically high salaries and if they pitch 6 innings it's considered some major accomplishment. Yet they are also getting injured at an alarming rate. With all the athletic trainers, and off season conditioning going on the pitchers should be in better shape now than ever before. Just saying.
  16. I really feel sorry for Lewis. I hope the injury isn't nearly as bad as feared. I'm glad Buxton made it through the day and actually played centerfield. It's sad that for 8 years we have waited and waited for Buxton to actually contribute to the team. It's also very sad that we are supposed to get excited by him actually playing. I'm glad he played. But let's not overdue it. Let's see how things are in June or July. I'm hoping for regular play and production that matches 8 years of hype. Thursday hopefully is a start. Go Twins!
  17. Good luck Royce Lewis. Good luck Twins. Another season, another year of injuries to key Twins players. This is sure getting to be old and frustrating. I sure hope Lewis gets back soon. He seems to be the real deal. Good luck Royce. We need you. Go Twins!
  18. I agree. But I need to vent lol. I know these things happen and there is probably no one person or training philosophy to blame. But I am way beyond frustrated. Let me at least blame the " baseball gods" or someone. Hopefully these players will get back soon. Lewis? We just can't have another good player wind up on any long term injury again. We already have Buxton who's as fragile as a thin piece of glass.
  19. Never understood how the Twins were even ranked as one of the best bullpen before the injuries. Although they have some good arms there are just as many question marks. As is normal with the Twins there are too many ifs. For the Twins to do well most everything has to go right and fall into place. Whereas they could be a solid contender they could just as well be the house of falling cards. I'm hoping that their awful spring training record of 2nd worst in all of spring training isn't a reflection of the upcoming season. I know it's spring training and they keep telling us the games don't matter. We'll tell that to the teams with great spring training records. I'm kind of let's wait and see what happens. Remember they tell us every year when they play poorly and lose in April that those games don't matter. Yes right. As far as Duran I'm sure he will slide right back into closer role when he returns. My big concern with him is that he throws so hard that he may be one 104 mph fastball away from Tommy John. I sure hope not. He is vital to any success the Twins have this year. Go Twins!
  20. The Twins always seem to have a lot of injuries. Not sure why but it doesn't seem to get much better. At least it gives them a good excuse when they lose games.
  21. Anything that improves competition in the AL Central would be great. The mediocre Twins have benefited greatly from incompetence amongst the other teams. They likely aren't competitive if the Twins were in most divisions. I think it's a very important this year that the Twins perform well and win the division. Anything less in this division of stiffs would be a huge disappointment.
  22. So even I am confused. Why did they sign him? Oops why did they not sign him? Is he here ir not? Does it really matter anyway? Not so much. Is tge correction story a Stu Randballs deal? If it's just an honest mistake in reporting that understandable. Things happen. If it's a satirical report that is not ok. I love Twins Daily and follow it very regularly. Keep up the good work.
  23. Besides the Twins are loathe to start a players major league clock time. I hope he develops and doesn't get jacked around like many of the prospects this regime has mishandled
  24. Very nice well written article. I'm neither optimistic nor pessimistic regarding this Twins team and season. Cutting payroll when on the precipice of a good season and progress threw a lot of cold water on the faces of fans. Mine included. Go Twins!
  25. This article is amongst the absolutely .most absurd articles I've read in TD. Most of the articles here are well written, well researched and newsworthy. This story is void of most of that. It comes across as a very sophomoric attempt to make the Twins not take any responsibility for their actions. I'm all for supporting the Twins efforts. But this article clearly misses the boat here.
