For the sake of argument, lets just say that AK is a complete bust and back on the DL within may or June. What are the chances that Lewis or Julien is playing 1st for the Saints after spring training and takes over for AK? That’s assuming alot but don’t the two of them need to find a position and why not have a permanent back up plan if AK is MIA.
Depending on who gets hurt or sucks, the next guys up … Lewis, Julien, Lee… will be mid summer or later. Looks like you nailed most of what lineups that we will see in april, may and June.
No way any of those almost ready guys will be traded. They get all of 23 to develop and step into 500 ab roles in 24. We finally have AAA depth of young high upside allstar potential in 4-6 pure athletes. They will all find a role as a twin over the next 36 months. They will bring the WS back to MPLS.
AK will be raking at 1st most of the year and Miranda may get a few games there. Nothing to even be concerned about if the team is average healthy over 162.
4 errors at SS in 46 games as a 20yr old in A ball. I’d say thats solid defense. Im stoked for this kid!! The big show is going to be full of pure athletes from 2025 on….
If he is more than just hype, he should be in the big show mid 2024 or penciled in starting in 2025. He will still only be 24 yrs old with a fresh arm. What a great draft pick!!
Miranda could be the team MVP this year. He changed his diet and worked his ass off to become an allstar. Doesn’t matter where he plays in the field if he hits ba .290 , ops of .990. With 30+hr. He could be around and raking for a decade.
We have lots of really good young arms. One or two will transition to the BP this year and ear up the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. We don't need to keep signing older retreads.
@LA VIkes Fan thats a lot to digest. I was just looking on the MLB app depth chart for the twins. It has Miranda starting 3rd, 1st and DH. Seems like they think we need more players.
When Royce Lewis is playing, he should be lead off. I’d use Polanco there on the other days. Gallo should be batting somewhere behind AK which puts him right in the #7 or 8 spot and it’ll be entertaining to listen to some clamoring for him to move up when he hits an HR and everyone else will shrug because he also stuck out twice and walked once in that game. Limit his PA’s to limit his K’s. Gordon is a great #9 guy cause he can set the 3rd inning table for the big boys Polanco/Correa/Buxton/Ak/Miranda etc. limit Gordon to 500PA for the year. He will still be super productive but shouldn’t be the face of the franchise. Insert Julien anywhere in the top 6 if his bat indeed plays at the MLB level.
They should be fully motivated to play great in St. Paul and basically force the team to bring them across the river. Its just a matter of time when someone is tearing up AAA.
I agree on Mahle if he can stay healthy. Extend Lopez as well so we dont have to dislike the trade of Arraez even more than we first did. I’d rather see a couple of young guys make the show out of spring training than see another vet brought in.
Im always overly excited about young pitchers. It would be pretty cool to see Varland and SWR stick with the twins but thats a double edged sword because it would mean that the injury bug bit hard.
Can someone please teach Julien how to play defense…. Somewhere on the diamond? The guy can hit but he needs a couple more years of learning a defensive skillset.
Winning will cure everything that is wrong with the twins. Fans will always have a favorite if the team is exciting and winning. They are finally paying enough talented guys to be competitive and developing the homegrown kids. There will be a new “fan favorite” but it will always suck that Arraez got traded.
