  1. Agreed. The only thing we actually do need is a true ace SP. whats the real cost of getting one when you have so many unknowns of young and previously injured players. We can take time to make a trade for an ace SP because they just arent always available but we can be ready when one is available. The FO is on top of the issue and will make a deal when its best for the team. We have to figure probably 20 large uncertainties on our 40 man roster and then deal with a trade when the right one presents itself. Our 26 man will have Buxton, Gallo, Kepler, Gordon Larnack and 1/2AK on opening day. The other half of AK will be DH/1B. Providing everyone is healthy. Celestino and wallner will be AAA until an actual injury occurs.
  2. I think he is looking for a longer term deal but probably doesn’t like what he has been offered. My bet is Boston signs him to something creative. Ive always been a fan of his and would rather have him that Gallo.
  3. Miami getting gray only blocks 1 young arm until the trade deadline when they could trade him to a contender as a rental for another building block. Its what they do. We would possibly gain 2 of the best controllable young arms in baseball. We probably wont go deep into the playoffs this year unless we have better starting pitching and you might as well get the young ones cause we are set up to do an October run for the next 6 years. As noted by others. two young outfield RH bats are on their way and Erod may be here in 18 months.
  4. FO hasn’t spoiled any next move. They are trying to win now without depleting the pipeline. There are just so many unknowns in the SP and the young talent of AAAA pitchers. SWR could make huge strides this year and CP could be a late call up and mainstay as early as next year. Raya is another guy that could be just 18 months away from the big show. It seems like Gray isn’t happy here so I would include him and Pagan in a mega deal with Kep, Polanco, TL and Miller to get 2 out of the top 4 Marlins pitchers. That way they don’t really block their AAAA pitching talent and we become deeep in pitching options this year.
  5. Considering that he is embarking on season #2 with the twins and we will have him for at least 8 total. No way he won’t vest his first option year (or two) He has HOF talent and a great pipeline of young talent around him. The twins finally figured out a path of drafting the best athletes instead of just position players. If they continue to stack their draft with middle field athletes and pitchers, the pipeline will continue to improve! Im super excited to see who they target next week in international signings as they have nearly $6.4M to use. Back to correa, there is absolutely no reason he can’t become our best SS of all time but he has to win a WS or there will always be an asterisk and arguments both ways. I have always thought of Gagne over Smalley for that very reason even tho Smalley was my childhood idol.
  6. Id trade Kepler and Polanco for Cabrera. We could put Farmer/Arraez at 2nd until Lewis or Julien is ready to take it by July/Aug. there would probably be other milb pieces involved but dont trade Arraez. We need him on base.
  7. Pagan has to added to any trade! Lol
  8. If Lopez is so easy to get, give them Pagan, Martin and Gordon. Then we can sign another pitcher like Wacha.
  9. Where we were last year before injuries was in first place by 5-8 games. We upgraded catcher, SPing and a utility piece from where we were last May. Possible upgrade to OF with Gallo (barf) and our RP is possibly deeper right now than last May. Without Correa we would have been still a 3-4th place team but we could have pivoted to another stop gap in Profar. If we would have signed him to a two year deal with a 3rd year option 10 days ago, we could have been taking a call right now from the red sox and did another kiner fillafel (sp) midnight romance…
  10. The pieces fit as we have them now. Gordon will be on the opening day roster with Celestino , Wallner and TL in AAA. We finally have some developmental depth and everyone wants to make a trade. Thats just not smart. We also have a glut of just above average young SP. personally I’d rather have Chase Petty back than have Gray but thats just me.
  11. Lewis isnt for sale. He is still rehabbing and 6 months away. He red sox are really going to stink this year….
  12. Celestino needs to develop in AAA longer so he will only be called up when Buck gets hurt. AK will be on the roster if he is healthy because he can play corner OF/1B/DH. By July, Lewis will be mashing in St.Paul and will be the first call up when literally anyone goes down cause he can play IF/OF.
  13. Who knew that MN sports teams can simply get lucky at times and set records. I remember that time when the twins went worst to first . Heck even the Vikes just went 11-0 in close games this season. Buxton et al might just stay healthy and the twins might just make a deep playoff run in October.
  14. We are not the same team now as Jan 9th just as we are not the same team when Buxton is injured. We are definitely fighting for 1st place in the central when they are in the lineup every day. All the youngsters are going to benefit from C4 being in the clubhouse for the next 6-10 years. We got waaaay better in wins and as a whole organization on Jan 10th.
  15. We just got super deep in the middle infield after this season of continuing development of Lewis, Lee, Julien, Martin, Erod, Cavaco and co. down on the farm. C4 will likely be SS for 6-8 years. Thats yr 28 thru 35 for C4. With all the 22-25yr olds in our system, its super exciting to think about them having the opportunity to work with C4. We are deep in the amount of young pitchers that are going to be getting a shot in the big show so hopefully the F.O. can find a trade partner to get a veteran front line starter that isn’t washed up or injury prone. Just don’t sign Bauer! When Lewis comes back in June/July… I wonder if he will get reps at 3rd if Miranda and a sophomore slump?
  16. Story just had surgery on his elbow so Boston is looking for 1-2 infielders and/or an outfielder. Maybe boston would trade a SP for Farmer/Kepler/Martin?
  17. He has a full no trade clause so unless it is waved to a team Carlos wants to go to, he will be a twin! The young guys are great athletes and can pencil into other positions so he is actually only taking up one position but really not blocking anyone else. Farmer will be gone in 2024. Kepler also? We now have a very deep team for 2023! All the young kids (and Buck) need to stay healthy so we can compete in sept/oct. Its also going to make watching the saints game better. They get a year of Celestino, Lee, Martin, Wallner and co.
  18. We are more like the side chic that stole the groom…. Lol
  19. They are front loading so he must have been willing to give up any out because he is getting paid early for those back end years. If he gets crippled up, Hire him as a coach.
  20. We have C4 for 6 years barring a trade. 7-10 in the option years if he is indeed the energizer bunny.
  21. Its not status quo when you consider a bunch of home grown kids age 22-26 that are now a year older, wiser and uninjured. Status quo was 1st place in the central by 5-8 games in June 2022.

    It Happened!

It seems like a great deal for the twins! 6-10 years depending on how everything shakes out over the prime of his career. Whats not to like? The young Pohlad in charge is spending the family fortune finally!!!
  23. The twins out bid the mets by $42,000,000.00 wait… what? ?
  24. Correa wants a long term contract that he can 1. Compete for a WS on the regular and 2. retire from baseball from. He will never sign another short term deal. 275Mguaranteed over 10 with incentives to 325M. Just because he was broken 8 years ago as a kid doesn’t mean he will break again or fall off a cliff at 30-32. He has as much chance as being a great DH into his mid to late 30s as anyone in the game today. Just pay him.
