    Regression works both ways. I'd expect (or at least hope) to see better years from Correa, Vazquez, and Gordon.

    End the end, it was worth a loss of 100 WAR just to no longer have Delmon Young on the team.

    It's a stretch to say Buxton and Correa will be a major 1-2- punch at the top of the league. But obviously that would be awesome and not entirely impossible. If Correa's foot is better and Buxton finally has a full season absolutely any thing could be possible with that pair. I'd add that maaaaaaybee AK could be the next MVP caliber hitter on the team. But that would require rolling a 20 sided die and getting your number. Id be happy to see Lewis and Julien move a step forward, or even stay as hot as they were, but until I see it, I'm not going to believe it. As for the Mirandas and Larnachs, of the world... maybe even Wallner, their window of opportunity is quickly slamming shut. Maybe not Wallner yet.

    Right now is the only time they will be able to get anything remotely resembling value for Kepler. If they need an emergency RF in the event that Larnach hits under .200, they can go ahead and resign Jake Cave. It's not that big of a drop off, especially if Buxton is able to manage CF this year and RF only needs to cover a sliver of the OF.

    I'd prefer to see Kepler go, but Polanco is probably a better trade chip. He's a good not-great player who will eventually be inducted into the Hall of Regionally Almost Famous. Like you say, there's an infield log jam. It was nice knowin ya.

    No more rhyming now, I mean it. But we must always remember to hold our breath when looking at our rookie phenoms lest they come down with Matt Nokes' syndrome. This will be the year to tell. If he, and the others, stay hot and/or improve. 2024 will be a good year, regardless of who the new hot pitcher will be.

    One thing I hope the Twins DO do this offseason... Let's get Akil Baddoo back and watch him turn into an all star... just to mess with the Tigers a bit.

    My favorite part about the off season is being overly and unrealistically optimistic. Sure Buxton is healed! He will be the gg, mvp, ss all star CF we know him to be. Ryan and Ober are going to take huge steps forward, so much that we won't even remember that guy who is now in... where is it? St. Louis? Miranda and Larnach are not only going to be not bad, but they'll actually be good (both have been a tad overrated IMO... but not anymore). There will be no sophomore slump for Lewis and Julien. Pagan and Gallo are finally gone thank the baseball gods (yes, I know... Pagan ended up figuring it out... but whatever)! And finally,... Nick Gordon will have the kind of year that will have most of us denying we ever hoped for his offloading to a low level type of team that may or not be playing in Las Vegas soon. The best part of the off season is that ALL of these things could very well come true. If they did, this team would be unstoppable. And, I'd even say that until opening day, I'll even expect all of this to come true.

    Whatever. It seemed to work for him pretty well. Since joining the Twins he went from a decent/pretty good pitcher to one of the best pitchers in MLB. He'd actually be my number 1 rebound candidate. Anyway, all the best to Gray and all that.

    Outside of 2019 he has only been good for 2 months. Lucky those were the last two months of 2023.

    I'd also add that MAT's power this year seemed to be a bit of an aberration. On any given year, I'd expect Kiermaier's power numbers to be roughly equivalent, or slightly better than MAT's. So replacing Kiermaier with MAT would at worst be even, with a little possible upside.

    Not just Farmer. Almost all position players not named Buxton, Correa, Lewis, and Julien should be considered trade bait. The Twins were a pretty good team. The only way they'll be a better team is if the upgrade their current roster. They have the chance to sell high on a lot of the guys.

    This guy, who would never make the roster in a OPS only lineup, was the hero of the best game I have ever seen.

    If the Twins went 100-62 Baldelli would take the fall for the 62. All of the posters here on TD know more than Baldelli even though probably more than 99% of us have never been in an mlb dugout. It's Buxton's fault that he's injured. Pagan still sucks...etc, etc, etc... With Correa leading the team in batting average at .230* it is unbelievable that this team is so good. Also, this terrible front office brought us some of the best pitching the mlb has seen, Carlos Correa, and a plethora of young talent that has real potential. This is a fun team to watch and often full of surprises. To take a small market team with virtually no superstars and make them competitive requires a great front office and manager. Despite the fact that Gallo had too many at bats and they put in a pitcher you didn't like once or twice.

    In 9 of those losses, Gray gave up 2 or fewer runs.

    If Vazquez had the chance to replace 4 of Jeffers' strikeouts with his own, all of Minnesota would have guillotined Rocco for blowing their chance at the world series.

    How about Sonny Gray, Pablo Lopez, Chris Paddack, Bailey Ober, and Louis Varland? The Twins batting champ hit .230 (big asterisks there) and 7/9 of the lineup put the exact same swing on every different pitch missing approximately 81 pitches per game in the ALDS. I don't think the team's largest chance to improve is in the pitching.

    Can't have your Kirk Gibson moment without your Kirk Gibson. Besides, Buxton can't be any worse than Kiriloff has been.

    People would have bitten your head off for even suggesting that the Twins would be in the ALDS.

    Fair enough. Maybe built for THIS October. He has had some good postseason games. Like you say, not a lot of games to draw full conclusions.

    Right. He had a down year at the plate, but he's not terrible. How do we know he's not built for October if they bench him the entire series? If a pitcher prefers to have him catch them, let him catch.
