  1. I just heard that Buxton is leaving baseball. He just took a job as the new drummer for Spinal Tap.
  2. On the radio, they say it is likely related to a play in game 1 where he jumped into the wall.
  3. It seems to make sense that they could build stadiums with a few dozen hotel rooms for traveling teams, but I think they stay in hotels. Maybe the super ultra rich players have condos in multiple towns, but that sounds like more work than it's worth.
  4. Both Clemens and Keirsey have contributed winning runs in recent games. It isn't unheard of.
  5. Ok. I guess that doesn't count today's 0-4. But still. A bit harsh.
  6. I wouldn't call two hitless games a slump. He's hitting .333 in May.
  7. Having been a Twins fan over the past year, I can totally commiserate with Orioles fans right now.
  8. It will settle down a little with time. Many AL central teams have played a large proportion of their series' against teams like the Orioles, Angles, Rockies, and (obviously) the White Sox. The Tigers look legit though.
  9. They need to beat the bad teams, and they have. They took 2 of 3 from Boston, which seems to be an OK to good team. But man I'd feel a whole lot better about their recent success if they had just taken one more from Cleveland.
  10. I presume you are referring to this:
  11. And the White Sox will be 44% of the Twins' wins. OR 50% if they manage to pull this one off somehow.
  12. Stop trying to make us optimistic. Part of the joy of baseball is wallowing in the awfulness. Nobody wants to be a middle-of-the-pack team.
  13. Nobody wants to watch a doubleheader between these two teams. Best case scenario was that they called the game after five innings.
  14. Y'all like to hate on Rocco, but the way this team hits you might as well put everyone's name in a hat and draw out batting orders and pinch hitters at random, regardless of platoons and matchups. Bride was probably just as likely to drive in Vazquez as Correa, Julien, Buxton, Larnach, etc... This team is really amazing in that way. Everyone is equally as good.
  15. Welp. Looks like it was to SS, not 2nd.
  16. Couldn't find any wood to knock on fast enough.
  17. Didn't the Royals come back from the bottom of the barrel to win a WS a few years back? They realized that they sucked because they were all addicted to Candy Crush. Ditched their phones and took off.
  18. Also a game changer when he literally scores the winning run. That helps.
  19. I found a new walk-up song for France:
  20. Welp. I'm not counting on a win, but this game was an improvement on previous games. They stayed in it, had some useful outs that scored runs, had some good pitching, and poor pitching and defense. I'll take it as a positive. A better loss (assuming they lose) than most of them have been.
  21. Every upgrade waiting in the minors since Buxton and Sano were supposed to be the duo that would lead the Twins for a decade has ultimately been a disappointment. I wouldn't count on this years SPS team to be any different. Something else is broken deep in this system that has led to a decade of next generation talent to flop (yes, even including Buxton, and so far Lewis, though the latter still has a chance to be a difference maker).
  22. Interesting way to gauge bullpen performance with different metrics, but the WPA would be much higher if the offence were able to able to score more than 2 runs per game. All of those scoreless frames would have been worth more WPA if there were more runs to protect. As it is, almost every bullpen run scored can be the difference between winning 2-1 or losing 1-2. The isolated Sands and Jax performances aside, I'd say the pitching is looking pretty good. Bob Gibson and Mariano Rivera would have losing records and terrible WPAs on this team.
  23. And today we learned that Ober, Ryan, and Lopez have all been seriously injured in a petting zoo incident. They got too close to the sheep and the llama attacked them all.
  24. I'm excited. There are several young-ish players that are all coming out of their sophomore slump seasons. It could be a magical year if Miranda, Larnach, Julien, Wallner, and more have career years (which I don't think is impossible). If they don't then I'm not worried. No amount of adding the best players in the offseason would fix them. I'm ready to watch as many of the 162 as I can regardless of how many wins they get. I was a Tigers fan in 2002 and 2003. I can take anything.
  25. I'd just use him as mop up, or whatever, until they need to send him down for practical reasons then DFA him. I'm not going to worry about the off chance he becomes a star pitcher in 3 years if he is going to be a huge liability this year. There are better pitchers this year that could be up. This isn't going to be like giving up John Smoltz to get Doyle Alexander back. He's just an AA prospect.
