  1. If Lewis is up again with someone on 3rd and 2 outs, they should steal home. Worst case is you get out anyway.
  2. I’m not sad. This team was awful. They sold high on the only two good players they traded, Varland and Duran. Hopefully they got something good in return. No way this team competes for anything next year except for last place with the White Sox. Relief pitchers are notoriously finicky. Duran might end up a hall of famer or might end up throwing his arm out next year. Jax was losing it in the end, Columbe was good but only pitched when a left handed was up, Stewart is on the way down, Varland was promising, but who knows… so was Tyler Rogers, but he stunk when he left too. The pitching on this team was good, but nowhere near enough to compete. They traded away their strength for the future. And I’m glad they did. Their AAA squad also sucks. If there is a next owner, they’ll get to buy all the pieces they want next year unhampered by 3 years of no trade clauses. Then Falvey will get fired anyway. As terrible as this team has been it’s amazing people are so upset they broke it up. The twins kept their only good players. Buxton, Lopez, and Ryan. Go from there. Onward. They might not compete next year, but they have a better chance than they did this year. If this is too much, I’d suggest finding a new team to follow. I’d suggest the Mariners… pretty good team, perennial underdogs, and they’ve never made the WS. Go Ms. I’ll stick with the twins.
  3. I'm sure Dobby will be just fine. Toledo is probably a great city.
  4. No worries about this from me. This team was terrible. Without the White Sox being all-time terrible, the Twins were battling for worst in the AL. This core was not going to compete next year either. It is a bummer to lose Varland, but I'm not getting all worked up about it. Duran was the best player to get traded, hopefully they got more than they gave up. Most of the rest were leaving after this year, overrated (Jax), or dragging the team down (Correa). I am in no position to have an opinion on the haul they brought in, so I'm not going to try. Sure I don't know whether I'd trust the front office to do a great job, but just in executing this fire sale they did better than they could have. To me this is a fresh start. If the 2026 team is going to suck, at least it will be with young hopefuls rather than old has-beens. Now if the team is sold, the new owners, presuming they will spend money, have a blank slate to play with... and hopefully a larger pool of quality prospects to develop. They burned it to the ground, and for that I am happy.
  5. Not sad or embittered about this at all. Great way to get out of what turned out to be a terrible signing.
  6. Minor leagues need warm bodies to pitch in blowout games too.
  7. I'm not necessarily concerned about him. A lot of players fall into sophomore slumps and emerge out the other side. What IS concerning is that this seems to be a trend for the Twins. Prospects tear up the minor leagues or have flashes of brilliance for a while, then become unplayable. On any other team we might expect him to figure it out and start destroying MLB pitching again. But for the Twins it seems we can add him to the pile that includes Wallner, Miranda, Julien, Larnach, and probably Brooks Lee (who is OK, but only really in comparison to those with whom he shares the diamond. Maybe it's the curse of Miguel Sano. Something is broken somewhere. Bringing back an old hitting coach didn't seem to help. Something stinks and I don't know enough about player development, the minor leagues, or insider baseball to identify the smell.
  8. He's the Twins' version of Shohei Ohtani.
  9. The Twins can lose every game 1-15. Until the offense can score I’ll never blame the pitching. If Bauer were on this team, maybe we’d lose every game 1-10, but the team would be more worthless.
  10. Not to be another one of those 'back in my day' guys ... (though obviously I'm about to)... I know the game has totally changed, but what happened to the Willie McGee type players? The guy obviously never lifted a weight in his life (the weights weighed more than him) and we was able to play 18 years of average or above average baseball (his career slash line is higher than most Twins this year) with only a few injuries sprinkled in. Maybe they're trying to chase that steroid era through more natural means, but I thought those 80s games were far more exciting. Even watching the Cubs lose every game on TV was more enthralling than watching todays good teams hit a few home runs now and then. Injuries are a byproduct of more boring baseball. That is all. Get off my lawn. (shaking fist at cloud)
  11. Wait until the Twins play Boston next. Alcala will be lights out.
  12. So when will the Twins decide if they are sellers at the trade deadline?
  13. Wow. I know he was having a bad year, but it seems like he’d be worth more than a weak hitting high A guy
  14. The problem I see isn't that the Twins lack a good bat in the lineup. Its that they lack several good bats in the lineup. So, while it would be exciting to trade away Duran for a good hitter, I'm not sure the impact will be enough. If I pick a random type of player we might hope to get for a Duran, we can look at someone like Brandon Lowe (I just kind of randomly picked a guy based on numbers, don't know about tradability, salary, etc). He's got good power and plays a position that could replace Brandon Lee, one of the teams worst hitters. Lowe might produce 10-20 more runs than Lee, but when you also subtract the handful of extra losses we get for NOT having Duran, I'm not sure it is worth it. When the Twins lose, it is usually because they fail to score several runs in a game, not one or two. So, yes, a Duran trade could help the Twins win 2-3 more games this year, but unless they got in a huge haul, I'm not sure it would make the difference. I bet Tampa still wishes they had Joe Ryan. This could look like that in 3 years.
  15. Good news on Lopez is he’ll be back in j just in time for the playoffs to give the twins an extra boost.
  16. It would be an easier idea to stomach if the Twins' offence wasn't so terrible. I don't think any bat they might get in return would add much more than the bat that it would replace. Paddack isn't good enough to trade for that offensive spark that can carry the team. We're about to see the real value of Paddack if Lopez goes down. Suddenly an elite starting lineup has 2 AAAA starters and 3 quality starters instead of 1 AAAA and 4 quality arms. That's a pretty big difference... especially when your team can't hit.
  17. I’ll keep this average France guy any day.
  18. I’m not sure it is unfair. He’s clearly on the shortlist to come up to the majors. It’s only May and half the team has been injured. He’ll be up here with his full chance when the time comes. In the meantime he probably at least got some major league catering and top tier hotel rooms as well as the ability to be a fly in the wall in a major league clubhouse. This isn’t the last of McCusker we get this year.
  19. No problem subbing out Clemens for McCusker. He'll get his chance eventually, but not during close games. He might be on fire in AAA, but the best AAA pitcher is worse than the worse MLB pitcher. He's going to have to adjust, even if that just takes a few at bats. He might have to be Joey Gallo for a few games before he's McClusker again.
  20. He's a hell a lot better than the alternatives... an injured Kirilloff, or squeezing in someone who absolutely doesn't belong like Miranda or Julien. From the view from radio, it looks like the infield defense is remarkably better than advertised and I'd bet first base plays a big part in that. He might be a downgrade from Santana and he might just be league average... but just like Vazquez and Kiersey, he'll occasionally pull out a big hit that gives the Twins a win. At the same time, he doesn't seem to lose many (or any) games due to misplays or a string of extremely poor at bats. The Twins will have to find their superstars at other positions, but they should at least feel secure with Frenchie at 1b.
  21. Spoke too soon. Must have misread something. I thought they called it.
  22. Looks like it is as blown open as it will get. 2-1 final score.
  23. Nope. People have their own houses and apartamentos.
