Agreed even though I am reasonably sure that the previous one would have barely touched the strike zone.  I think Culpepper was upset at himself for not challenging that pitch so he challenged the next pitch.  Either way, I don't mind the challenge.  Keeping the AB alive when you're trying to move the line is important.

I'll say again, the umps like this kind of outcome.  I don't know why.  But they relish the opportunity to make players question themselves.  I'm not watching the game live, but through Gameday the pitch charts draw a consistent picture: mess with the rookie on pitch 1 or 2 and then let events take their course.

Umpires I've heard on panels will say nearly as much.  They view themselves as the keepers of the game.

I decided I'm not going to mention how shaky Gomez has been in his last 7 games.

Good Gomez shows tonight

That's good because I would feel the need to respond.  I'll just go with this.

Gomez good for at least one walk, even with just two outs to get. Still living on a prayer.

I view them as not calling balls and strikes in the near future.

They've learned how to pitch to Jenkins. His turn to adjust.

Not sure which iteration to click Like on.  They're all good.

GOOD FOR ROYCE-  BUT IT WAS HOME COOKING ,  OFFICIAL SCORERS R ?? AT BEST

He didn't get his glove on it, therefore no error.  Just because a play should have been made doesn't make it an error.
