jaimedude Verified Member Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Anyone else find the points made by Scoggins article about ownership well reasoned? They can do whatever they want ownership, but it is becoming clear fans paitence with buying tickets, is wearing thin. I personally am dropping my 20 game pack if Joe Pohlad remains lead decision maker. Thought attendance was impacted by statements made by Joe during opening weekend. Regardless of what decision we fan's make, I don't get a sense payroll will improve, if anything with declining attendance we are likely to see a further reduction. TheLeviathan and gunnarthor 2

jaimedude Verified Member Posted September 29, 2024 Author Posted September 29, 2024 Falvey and Lavine should be out for signing Joey Gallo. Dave St Peter should be out for botching media rights deals. Joe Pohlad should be demoted for his disastrous PR and poor fan engagement. St Peter never gets fired and that guy has been in power for close to 30 years.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 As many have said, the focus should be on ownership. They want to be the Rays by their own admission. We need more heroes like this one: The Pohalds banned him for a year and tried to have him arrested.

But pray tell, what is it you expect to accomplish with this "focus?" Are they firing themselves?

Nothing, really. I doubt what is said here about any ‘focus’ is having any affect on needed change. I guess then there is nothing left to discuss. Mike Sixel and TheLeviathan 2

Yes, criticism of the Pohlads is probably just beating a titanium horse piñata. With cooked pasta. But at the very least it's a change of pace from describing how pathetic the Twins looked in their Los Angles Rams uniforms as they exited the playoff picture for good enroute to kick off the sweep by the Orioles. Just think of it as a quirky Minnesota tradition that nobody can explain... like deep-frying and eating completely random organic matter at the State Fair, or doing tavern pull tabs until your BAC is higher than the NASDAQ. I appreciate this pull tabs joke. Easily the most inexplicable phenomena I'm aware of about Minnesota. LaBombo 1
jaimedude Verified Member Posted September 30, 2024 Author Posted September 30, 2024 I thought Scoggins article made for Interesting discussion. Based on what happened to the fan with the defund Pohlads sign, if there was any organized protest with Tshirts or signs we would possibly be trespassed. Was just trying to gage how others liked or didn't like the article. Not much we as fans c an do other stop buying tickets, which would have the opposite effect we all want. 54 different players played for the Twins this year, that's too much turnover and change.
I Miss The Lakes Verified Member Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I know this isn't an airport, but I am weary of this crap. I have almost as many choices for entertainment as the Pohlads have dollars. I'm not going to spend any more of my time or money on them until something changes. NYCTK 1

KMSP 9 reported last night that the team said he wasn't banned for the sign, it was for refusing to leave and being disrespectful and vulgar towards employees. Not defending the team just saying what was reported.

He Saud he didn't become vulgar or un-ruly until he was written the trespassed citation and was swarmed by like 15 Police. Needless to say you don't want to become dis orderly with police. Truth is probably somewhere in-between Two s statements and the guy's. Don't see too many signs in Target field so not sure of the Policy. Can tell they didn't like his defund the Po...Hlads sign making it on the Big screen. Needless to say no matter how many of us are discontented and want the team sold to new owners, I doubt anything comes of this sentiment. lecroy24fan 1

NYCTK Verified Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Different market, and richer owner, but Steve Cohen shows what a good owner looks like. Who cares if you lose $20 million when you can change the culture of your organization while creating lasting memories that bring in a whole new generation of fans?

Businesses sometimes take a temporary loss in order to reap rewards down the line. The Twins are actively sabotaging their fan base. I'm not suggesting this is real, but go with this for a second: If I were a conspiracy theorist and I thought "What would an organization looking to contract their team do to sabotage their fan loyalty and drive a wedge between their fans and the team?" I'm struggling to think of anything more they would do than what the 2024 Minnesota Twins have done. Slash payroll? Check. Take them off the air for viewership? Check. Ignore roster acquisitions? Check. Say ridiculous, boneheaded things out loud to the public to drive them nuts? A Right-Sized Check. End the season with a bunch of mush mouthed, phony "business" talk? Check. They did everything but triple the beer prices. Rik19753, Original_JB, Richie the Rally Goat and 2 others 5
