More "R" rated terms would be more appropriate, but I won't use them here. You guys are smart enough to guess about where I'd be headed with that, if so inclined.

BH67 Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 The offense is mind numbing. They don't drive me batty, because, well... One last chance.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Lee just looks completely overmatched, running into one last night notwithstanding. IndyTwinsFan and Aggies7 2

cheeseheadgophfan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 All we hear about is Brooks Lee's father is a baseball coach. If he didn't teach his kid to bunt, he should be ashamed of himself. Provus: "the bunt is just not something in his game....." Schmoeman5 and gregens 2
Danchat Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Yikes. Vazquez pinch hitting in a do-or-die situation with a now sub-.600 OPS... gross. Parfigliano 1

Seems like a no brainer that you’d ask your rookie in a huge spot to do something high percentage like lay down a bunt to move the game tying run to 3rd. But apparently, no. IndyTwinsFan 1

IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 And the puny, so-called offense, has cost us yet another winnable game. Just disgusting! Blyleven2011 1
OvertheHill Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Pi**ed away another decent start. Our killer LHP optimized lineup predictably does little. Our “interchangeable parts” approach yields shoddy fielding that cost a close game. Running on fumes. IndyTwinsFan and cheeseheadgophfan 2

TwinsCD Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 As soon as I saw the starting lineup with Jeffers in the leadoff spot and both Larnach & Wallner out of it, I figured it would be a loss. Correa and Buxton are still out and while they've been gone, Wallner is one of your best hitters. I don't care if the pitcher is throwing amphibiously (look up the reference), you have to put your best bats in the lineup in September, especially when two of your best bats are hurt. But we have a manager who decides to put names in a hat and draw them out to figure out his batting order. We have a manager who refuses to lay a bunt down to get 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the 9th. We have a manager that is running scared to let a lefty batter face a lefty pitcher but will let a horrific-hitting catcher pinch-hit in a big situation. I'm really debating how close I want to sit to the dugout on Thursday to let my voice be heard. gregens, Parfigliano, Schmoeman5 and 1 other 3 1
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Without Buck and Correa, you can't afford to go with the all righty lineup. Wallner and Larnach need to play everyday.
BiggestRoccoFan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 This game was poorly managed from the start with the line up construction. You can't have 3 infielders in the outfield. How do you ever learn to hit left handed pitching if never given the chance? Jeffers as the lead off man? Taking 2 of your better hitters out of an already thin line up. Parfigliano, gregens and Twins_Fan_in_NJ 3
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Morneau mentioned it earlier in the season. There's something to be said for batters getting comfortable with their place in the lineup. Zero consistency in that regard and I don't see it from any other teams like I do with the Twins. gregens 1
