Maybe when Correa and Lewis get back, they go a run. With Lopez, Ryan and Ober, there's enough starting pitching. But the tailspin may do more damage than they can overcome.

3 true starters will get you about .500 ball.

I guess in Jeffers' case there's some merit to giving a catcher a full day off now and again. Catching is tough duty.

And it was and remains pretty clear Santana wasn't signed to be a part time 1st baseman. He was being counted on as the every day guy from the time ink went to paper on the contract.

I'd assume he gets another month, month and half of full time duty before any changes to that.

Double that duty time and add 15 games then maybe, maybe they change

MAT cost a couple of million more than ownership wanted to pay so they invested it in de Sclefani instead.

I love Farmer but I am wondering if age 33 is the same for him.

It is odd, Wallner was sub .100 with a LOT of Ks; Farmer is sub .100 with 9 Ks, rather strange.

Yes but Mat signed for the same as last year, in the end.

You familiar with the minor league option system?

I'll give the FO the benefit of the doubt on that part - he wasn't asking what he signed for when they gave up and pivoted elsewhere; he was forced to it because his market shrank (including the Twins giving up on him).

But the end result of not paying him nearer his asking price is... Margot and de Sclefani. One is rubbish, the other will never throw a single pitch for the Twins. The result of "saving" a couple of million dollars is literally wasting a few million dollars on de Sclefani, and replacing MAT with an inferior version.

A FAR inferior version I would say

I don't think I'd disagree with that. Even just defensively, MAT was a high-quality CF and I wouldn't trust Margot out there for a second. And MAT struck out a lot but I'd still prefer to see him coming up in the order than Margot.

Fun with numbers: per BWAR, Royce Lewis is the 10th most valuable Twins player in 2024.

He has 2

Farmer used to be a guy who could poke a ball into RF for a hit. Now he's trying to pull on everything. So maybe he's not K'ing but they're easy outs

Margot doesn't have much of an arm does he. Man is that guy a bad fit for the Twins

Not sure why Twins felt compelled to bring him in. Front office and ownership had one of the worst off-season decision making periods for the Twins. No wonder Lavine was trying to bail, Joe Pohlad is scrooge reincarnated.

Nothing to do with options, it is how one can be that low with so few Ks.
