Boswell Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Relax… relax… relax… this is going to be the most absurd “race” for a division title in post-1969 history. Enjoy it! We may yet supplant the 82-80 Padres and enter into “the dance”. Piggyback Pablo and Sonny for Game One, get a shutout, kill the beast of 0-18, then kick back on the couch. Successful Season! 🤣😝🤪 Hosken Bombo Disco, Peter, MMMordabito and 1 other 2 2

Hopefully they can salvage a split against Texas I believe the wheels came off last year when the Twins got swept by a mediocre Texas team at home. The recent history against the Rangers in Target Field ain't good. TwinsDr2021 1

Next 13 games will decide season but I still think twins win division! They have to!!! Well today the umps were as culpable as the weather. Not enjoyable but is what it is. hitterscount 1

Fundamental baseball is not high on Falvey's checklist. IMO you need to add the coaching staff. There was a longer Spring training due to the WPA this year, so there should have been enough time to work on basic fundamentals. Hosken Bombo Disco 1
Whitey333 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 This team should have a much better record than it has. They are barely a 500 team and have played like it most of the season. Yes maybe we are lucky to be in the very weak central division. Then again maybe not. The lack of competition from anyone else may be holding down the Twins even a little. Why should they try? No one is pushing them. Not the competition or lack thereof and definitely not our great manager Rocco lol. We will win the division not because we deserve it. More because no other team has been interested all year.

He didn't even give up an earned run. Defense is ignored completely by WPA. All credit/blame goes to the pitcher and the batter. I honestly don't know why anyone looks at that stat. It's as useless as GWRBI. SwainZag 1
John Belinski Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Another game that Rocco lost. Runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs with the Twins best bunter at the plate. He bunts ball and moves runners over then next batter hits a fly ball to outfield then Twins win. Any other manager in baseball bunts runners over and wins the game except Rocco. It is so sad we will have to keep watching Rocco lose games, that the Twins should win, for many years to come. The worst day in Twins history is the day they hired Rocco as manager. Danchat 1

OK - not being critical of you here - why isn’t Taylor assigned blame for not being able to execute a sacrifice bunt & much worse, having an obvious 1 base error in the 10th allowing the winning run to get to 3rd & score with 2 outs on a grounder to 3rd? Don’t understand the assignment of blame. I get this isn’t your system, but if Pagan does his job Duran potentially doesn’t need to come into the game…….not tied up anyway. SwainZag 1
beterday Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 That play by Taylor in center is a benching worthy offense. Duran pitched great and Milwaukee hitter did better, getting a bat on that pitch. Correa would have swung and missed by 4 feet, then looked at the umpire.
Old time Twinkie47 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Theilbar has fallen in luv with his fastball this year. His slow curve is what made him serviceable not his fastball. Why the change?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 There isn’t a single reliever I trust in the entire bullpen. I’ll count half for duran. That’s it. God bless, good luck winning a playoff game with that bullpen makeup. Lopez or Gray will have to throw 8+ to conceivably win any possible playoff game. “Built for October” my behind
mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 This is a question for the commentors and author too. What is our comfort level with the BP arms at this point? On a scale of 1 - 10 and 1 is put him in and we are going to lose to 10 - game over, we win. I will give my own grades here - help me out. Floro - 3 Duran - 8 Pagan - 5 Thielbar - 7 Jax - 7 Sands - 4 Ortega - 2 Winder - 3

Floro - 3 Duran - 8 Pagan - 5 Thielbar - 7 Jax - 7 Sands - 4 Ortega - 2 Winder - 3 The differences between the guys make sense…….maybe a little low overall though? You didn’t have this information - Winder threw 3 innings of hitless tonight, big HOLD & got the win. Jax-Thielbar ….8 Duran….9 Pagan……7 Floro-Ortega-Balazovic-Winder…..6.5 Sands …..5 I look at these numbers as how many times out of ten they will be successful…….not necessarily perfect but not terrible. Pitchers give up runs once in a while through no fault of their own……..Duran in Milwaukee - Taylor has a one base error and the guy scores with 2 outs in a chopper to 3rd. Similar rankings. Every time I get soft and start believing in Pagan he breaks my heart or makes me want to put out a contract on him. Tough watch!! mikelink45 1
