How old is the boy?  It's funny, most of the players I get right played between 91 and 01.  Back to my youth when all we did was baseball.

I enjoyed my obscure Twins AS today.  0.5%!

The boy doesn't turn 31 until October.

"And the inning ends with Julien left aboard."  I think we need to get used to this phrasing for the coming few seasons.

For no reason I counted the number of 3 up 3 down innings the offense has had since the Allstar break. The number is 12 in 5+ games.  I have no context for that other than the approach is better.

That's a new one on me.  Why is a mnemonic needed for that particular word?  Was the US defense department hard at work on acronyms at some point and decided this was required?

Just to clarify, this is a mnemonic but not an acronym. An acronym is a word that derives from the initials of a phrase, such as snafu (situation normal, all ****ed up) as opposed to the mnemonic we were discussing where the opposite was true--the phrase was derived from the word.

It was something I learned in the 2nd or 3rd grade and it always stuck with me

Wish him a happy birthday for me... whenever you get around to it...

...maybe it'll be timely by then.

Oh yeah, it comes back to me now, Stashbury.  Infer from that what you will.

At about the same time I learned the arithmetic mnemonic I also learned "George Eckert's old grandmother rode a pig home yesterday".

Since I'm so learned this evening, based on the spelling, he's got to have some mighty fine facial hair going on.

Nice to score off a walk,  but gotta get these strikeouts down  , 4 already

Strikeout prone team against a hard throwing strikeout pitcher.  Can only hope he hits the showers early.

Why was this important information not being taught in the Indianapolis public school system when I was in school?  (And yes, the Whigs already had come and gone by my time, smartalecs.)

Let's just say, Bailey Ober would be jealous.

If you want rarity in yesterday’s puzzle, how about Jim Bouton for Milwaukee & the Yankees?
