I hope to grow old, but not up.

From my favorite folkie:

Ha! I know John. My wife then, Eli Frantzen, did the painting for the Family Garden album cover in 1993. We all lived in Charlottesville, VA at the time.

I have a lot of days when I'm feeling 40, but starting to have a few more where I'm feeling "ish."

People think I’m 40. I like to just nod and agree

Whats with the green hats?

They’re wearing them in the Sox-Royals game, too … so must be a MLB thing

No matter how old we all are, no one has Chief beat. He’s older than all our ages added together!

So true.

Only one among us that vividly recalls all three franchise WS wins. Favorite all-time player is Goose Goslin. Wished WWII had lasted longer after the Senators moved to within a game of the pennant in ‘45.

"Armed Forces Day, established by President Harry S. Truman in 1949, is traditionally celebrated each year on the third Saturday of May. Throughout the weekend, MLB players and coaches will wear camouflage-designed caps, as well as optional camo-themed socks."

I was watching it all on AFRTS television with Dick n Bert calling the game while flying my jet fighter as we fought the Germans at Pearl Harbor.

That's awesome, and that's beautiful artwork.

Bunch of great songs on that album, including "Baseball on the Block," with the awesome verse,

"Third base is Eddie's old shirt
Second is Schmidt's Chevrolet
I had a sure double, I was just rounding first
When Schmidt's mom drove second away."

I got to know John pretty well in bringing him to town for about half a dozen shows over a few years and have probably seen him a couple dozen times, including his all-baseball show when we happened to be in the area on vacation. He got a laugh when I asked if he's ever considered putting a Jugs gun on his dulcimer hammer.

Have you taken in any of his online shows that he started doing during Covid? He had a wonderful song about Hank Aaron after he died, though he hasn't put it on an album.
