Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Can we keep Arcia... Mom... Can we? This is an interesting problem with the crowded corner OF and none of whom can play CF every day where we need the help. Arcia must stay up. No way you can send him down.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Chief, do you remember Chris Short, a pretty good pitcher for the Phillies in the 60s? He was famous for only lasting two hours, no matter how far the game had gone. In '64, in the last week when the Phils collapsed, Mauch twice went with Short too long and the Phils lost both of those games. Vaguely. I didn't pay a lot of attention to the NL in those days, and of course it was a lot harder to follow other teams then, too. I certainly remember Mauch's days with the Twins though.
big dog Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It would be great to have Pressley get through this inning without too many problems. He's thrown some nice pitches. Can you imagine Gardy's face if TR said he was going to send Arcia down?

big dog Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Willingham isn't an option in CF is he? Maybe with Span in left and Revere in right....naw.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Willingham isn't an option in CF is he?No, not with Doumit blocking him there.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 That's something you don't often see in Fenway. A putout for the left fielder.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Can you imagine Gardy's face if TR said he was going to send Arcia down? I wouldnt have to imagine it... I'd bet Snepp or Hammer could find a GIF.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Pressly showing Boston what they missed; got to love this relief outing.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Nice job, Elvis. Ryan Pressly: Thank You... Thank You Very Much

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Eh, not to be a 1-upper, But I reckon Gardy's face would look more like this: http://sports.cbsimg.net/images//visual/whatshot/gardy-hicks2.gif

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Ryan Pressly: Thank You... Thank You Very Much Yup, after Hernandez left in the second I thought another starter may be needed at some point tonight and a spot starter might get called from Rochester. Now the Twins can resume the regular rotation and until Gibson's services are requested to replace Hernandez or Pelfrey next week. Edit: Check that, Dick says despite Gibson's awesome effort tonight Hernandez has earned enough rope to stay in the rotation. There you have it from a voice of authority. Gibson is less deserving than Hernandez.
big dog Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Ladies and Gentlemen, Ryan Pressley, your Twins Player of the Game.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I know the game isn't over, but if any pitcher earned a win when coming in with a 5-run lead, it is Pressly. Great job.

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I just hope we're not at .500 by the end of the day. We're not supposed to be competitive til 2015!
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Well, I'm back. We got our closer in yet, for the ninth inning?
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Well, I'm back. We got our closer in yet, for the ninth inning? The NINTH??!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 "Dick says..." Enough said. Are you questioning his acumen? I just heard him say Ryan Pressley pitched better than Felix Doubront. You rarely find that kind of spot on analysis. He can evaluate talent with the best of them.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Just got in from work, put the game on, and I have to watch that? What the heck just happened?
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Baserunning issues for Willingham, Doumit, and Plouffe. Doesn't take a genius to see who gets the brunt of that problem....
Westgaard66 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Gardy's is currently having a coronary in the dugout.
