As a kid I used to spend summers in O'Fallon, Illinois. Not far from St. louis.  Most miserable weather.  By the time you showered and toweled off, you were ready to shower again.  KC was just as bad.

So I checked the math on the different release points for Ober vs. the MLB average.

MLB average release is 54 feet from home plate.

Ober releases 52.5 feet from home plate due to his length.

If Ober throws a 91 mph FB it takes .393 seconds to get there.

If an MLB average pitcher throws a 94 mph FB, it takes .391 seconds to get there.

So Ober's 91-92 FB is equivilant to a 94-95 mph FB from a league average-sized pitcher.

Pretty cool observation by the announcing team.

I used to landscape in this kind of weather only 15 degrees warmer; you would go into the outhouse to take dump and the water would literally trickle off of your chin into your pants.

I was born and grew up in Minnesota, spent a few summers in St Louis, and have in Tucson for 28 years.  One extreme to the other.

I don't know but that was some jinx ... you need to undo it, just as a said, and post a video of yourself undoing the jinx :)

Very descriptive, I almost feel like I was there with you.

Check, please.

Ober needs to calm down.  The constant pacing and fidgeting.  The clown faces and bubble blowing have got to go.

Come on Ober, show some dignity.

As long as the St. Louis side of the scores remains as it is, Ober can continue doing whatever he's doing :)

Yeah, thank you for sharing. It is brave of you to speak up about this difficult* memory.

* Difficult for your readers, I mean.

I cannot eat mussels ... cannot have clams or oysters, either

You can eat them. But you would then suffer the consequences of your actions.

There are quite a few people on these boards from Tucson ... I'll let them out themselves

In the case of Chief, I'd let him out the way he came in.
