GAME THREAD: 5/14/21 Minnesota Twins vs Oakland A's, 7:10 PM CDT

On a night where he's just barely getting by, Shoemaker has the nerve to stroll toward the dugout assuming strike three on what looked more like a ball than a strike, then sulks back to the mound and immediately gives up a 400 footer.  Freaking poetic.

thank you Mr. Donaldson. Now we only need 5 more of those.

Or they could opt to deviate from the club's standard operating procedure and hit one with a runner or two on base.

I mean, in theory at least.

I disagree. Shoemaker did not pitch well. He gave up five earned runs in six innings. Not good. Put him in the bullpen and bring up Dobnak or Thorpe.

He didn’t do badly especially considering the starts we’ve had lately. The final homer taints what could have been a decent night. 2 outs and nobody on. He was almost out of it

Might as well go out with style! After that stunt that will hopefully be his last start with the Twins.

Guys, who are these other SP options instead of shoemaker? Dobnak who just got jacked up in a AAA start? Smeltzer who’s hurt? If we could score more than 1.7 runs a game, perhaps the starters would pitch better

Thorpe has looked good, he'd definitely be better than Shoemaker at this point. Might as well find out if Thorpe can be a back-end starter / reliever before he's out of options next year. There's just no future for Shoemaker, so no point in having him keep going out there every 5th start.

I see the Dodgers picked up Blankenhorn

Does that mean he will now start in AllStar far and win World Series MVP?

There are no other options. This team blows! Tear it down! Trade everyone we can! Our window closed last year! Lose 110+!!!!! Tank for Elijah Green!!!!!!!!!!!!! Start anew! Cleanse the soul!

We could go with a bullpen game. Those were popular and drew rave reviews last year, right? ?

Didn’t the tigers lose 117 one year?

Fear not! Falvey’s software simulations do predict a Twins 3-run home run happening at some point later this season.

The 2003 tigers were 43-119

*sigh*

The only reason to keep watching any more is for Tortuga extra-base hits, and (when he's healthy) Buxton web gems.

Completely agree, but wanted to add that Shoemaker has rendered the issue of his not having a future irrelevant by not having a present.

The twins commentators need to stop with the “bad luck” angle. Every team has bad luck. Don’t insult the intelligence of those of us who’ve watched most of the games
