i'm sick of Badoo. He's got about a dozen plate appearances. He has no track record to support his fabled start. Let the fall begin.

It has begun

For the handwringing some have had about Astudillo, he's doing everything he's needed to and more. Great bat to have on the bench. Some hitters in this lineup wish they could make contact like he does...

I am not an Astudillo fan, but I agree with this. He's in a role that's suited for him and his skillset has value in that role.

"Badoo is retired!" marvels Dick Bremer. I wonder what Akil's hall of fame chances are - voters tend to penalize short careers.

Totally disagree.  His .500 BABIP and 100% HR/FB ratio are definitely here to stay.

With such sustainable figures like that, how can one argue?!

Oh, on this board, someone will find a way.

You're wrong!

So if nobody comes off the bench, Cave and Sano will lead the team in games played?

150 games for position players is as rare as 200 IP for starting pitchers these days.

Not complaining; just observing.

Whatever "handwringing" I may have done about La Tortuga is that I was becoming convinced his unique batting style had been figured out by opposing batteries. He doesn't contribute enough defensively, "versatile" or not, to support the bat we saw the last couple years.

If this year's start is indicative of something sustainable, I'll be happy to jump on the bandwagon. (Probably I'll wait until his BABIP is a little under the .625 I see coming into the game.)
