I remember as a kid, I had an imaginary friend. Finally, I came to realize it wasn't good for me to have such a friend, he was kind of mean. Like, for instance, he always teased me that at least he had a real friend.

The only glimmer of hope I really see against the Yankees is the way Maeda and Pineda have pitched so far this year. If they can go 6 or 7 innings giving up <2 runs and May/Romo/Duffey closing the door then the Twins have a shot.

Thursday vs White Sox -- 3 runs -- 2 dingers by Buxton and one by Donaldson (3 of 3)

Wednesday vs White Sox -- 5 runs -- Rosario solo, Buxton 2-run, Sano 2-run (8 of 8)

Tuesday vs White Sox -- 2 runs -- Buxton solo (9 of 10)

Monday vs White Sox -- 1 run -- no dingers (9 of 11)

Sunday vs Cleveland -- 7 runs -- Gonzo 2-run, Cruz solo, Jeffers 2-run, Donaldson solo (15 of 18)

9/12 vs Cleveland -- 8 runs -- Gonzo 2-run, Tortuga solo, Buxton 2-run, Rosario 2-run, Sano solo (23 of 26)

Hopefully the whole last third of the Twins' lineup tonight is gone next year

It's looking like it - all three's contracts are up, and I don't think re-signing them should be on the table. Avila is not a bad backup catcher, but it's pretty clear that Jeffers will be ready to back up Garver, if not step ahead of him.

Sounds a lot like having internet friends with whom to have virtual conversations about baseball games.

Do you keep Avila on the play-off roster over Jeffers? I don't. Frankly if Garver doesn't hit in the next week, he should be the one left off.
