I don't use that subjective number system.

You hear catchers talking about those nights where they are thrilled to get a good start because the pitcher didn't have their best stuff, and tonight looks like one of those nights. JO works in and out of jams, but certainly didn't have his best stuff. Will be very interesting to see how these next 4 innings are pieced together.

Stroman is much closer to an ace than JO in my opinion, although both are closer to just a #1 rather than an ace.

 

Bumgarner is much closer to a number 5 starter than an ace.

On this team, yes. He's the #1 horse the Twins have. He's very good and most teams would be happy to have them at or near the top of their rotation.

I would have Jose go 110+ pitches if needed. I think he can handle it, and he's the type of guy that can go past the 100 pitch barrier and not be too concerned.

 

Also, Brett Anderson is at just 58 pitches so far!

I think he's working fast, too. Something I'd like to see more of from guys like Gibby and Perez. Twins hitters seem back on their heels and uncomfortable.
