Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Im curious, do you view Berrios as an ace? Personally I don't use that subjective number system. Ace, 2,3,4,5. Doesn't matter much to me. I just want them to hang zeroes and give the offense a chance to win it.
Blake Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Berrios just can't catch a break here. Hard to believe Chapman, pretty much all by himself, is responsible for the elevated pitch count.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 C'mon Jose, put these guys away already.http://giphygifs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/2b9rJsvqoqNxe/giphy.gif
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Berrios isn’t an ace. Why do you think everyone is clamoring for a front end SP so hard? Nice of you to drop by.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 You hear catchers talking about those nights where they are thrilled to get a good start because the pitcher didn't have their best stuff, and tonight looks like one of those nights. JO works in and out of jams, but certainly didn't have his best stuff. Will be very interesting to see how these next 4 innings are pieced together. I am guessing Stewart, Duffey, Parker, Rogers. Would love to have the offense tag on some more runs.
Blake Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Are you sure you aren't confusing Nordstroms with this?Haha, we're on to you! Well, MOST of us are on to you.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 But is Bumgarner or Stroman front end? I dont think so..Stroman is much closer to an ace than JO in my opinion, although both are closer to just a #1 rather than an ace. Bumgarner is much closer to a number 5 starter than an ace.
bighat Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Im curious, do you view Berrios as an ace? On this team, yes. He's the #1 horse the Twins have. He's very good and most teams would be happy to have them at or near the top of their rotation.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 I am guessing Stewart, Duffey, Parker, Rogers. How about a 12-out save from Rogers?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 I would have Jose go 110+ pitches if needed. I think he can handle it, and he's the type of guy that can go past the 100 pitch barrier and not be too concerned. Also, Brett Anderson is at just 58 pitches so far!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Anderson has completely disrupted the Twins timing, just can't hit him hard.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 four innings from rogers should do the trick.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Sticking with Berrios. I don't mind it. Probably better the third time thru than Stewart anyway.
BattleYourTailOff Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Bumgarner is much closer to a number 5 starter than an ace. What team is he a number 5? The Astros or the Indians? He’s #1 or at worst #2 on the Twins.

wabene Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Stroman is overrated and if he was a Twin people here would be saying how much greater Berrios is and we should trade for him. Ha ha I kid I kid. Stroman is a dick I prefer rooting for Berrios. It it's true we often seem to hear about how Jose doesn't have his best stuff.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Apparently, you haven’t seen this “Bumgarner” pitch, especially lately. He is Gibson level, maybe slightly better. He isn't an ace. He has name recognition, but he isn't better than JO or Odo. He is dominant against lefties, average against righties, certainly not an ace.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 What team is he a number 5? If you want a discussion on this, that might be a better place for it, rather than in the midst of a game and game thread.

And yeah I realize it’s 2019 but nobody ever would take Gibson over Bumgarner unless they’re new to baseball

bighat Verified Member Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Anderson has completely disrupted the Twins timing, just can't hit him hard. I think he's working fast, too. Something I'd like to see more of from guys like Gibby and Perez. Twins hitters seem back on their heels and uncomfortable.
