The streak of RISP-lessness continues. Ugh. The pitching has done most everything they've needed to win games recently, but the hitters...

Polanco has been playing too many games. He needs to take more rest now.

Yes there was bad luck, but overall this was another poor performance against a bad team. Now 9-8 since June 1 against sub .500 teams. Better wake up fast fellas

Or we'll be looking up at Cleveland in about a week or so.

Yeah, probably after athletics series. Indians will tie with us.

Indians might lose a few. I would be happy if Twins is still ahead of Indians after Yankees series.

So Cleveland will win out while the Twins get swept at home.

Seems legit.

Vargas ,Fiers, Anderson and the entire Yankees team have the excellent track record against us.

Indians have dominated against Tigers and Royals recently.

So, why not?

Good God, are you people new to baseball? Gaining/losing six games in a week is basically unheard of and the Twins just went 2-1 against Cleveland in Cleveland.

Boring pessimistic take is boring.

Welcome to the new and improved Game Thread.

Tonight was a super fun game at the end. Arraez is an absolute catalist. Pineda is throwing hard and turning into a horse. Littell and Magill are rounding into form. We win tonight 8 ot off 10 times. This happened to be one of the other 2.

It's a tough loss. Cruz just does not have as good bat control as Arraez. Sano has been a bit too walk-happy these days and he got ripped off by the umpire.

Brutal loss to a bad team. Quite unlucky, but still should have pulled it out.

Hopefully Schoop can rest with a nice DL stint.

I'm not sure about the Twins, but I expect Cleveland to go 10-2 or 9-3 in their next 12. They will very likely gain 2-4 games on us between now and 7/30.

Expecting a team to go 10-2/9-3 over any stretch of games is... well, a stretch.

Cleveland will likely play well. They could go 9-3 but have a better chance of going 7-5.

Stop pretending Cleveland, a team that has generally overperformed their peripheral numbers and a team the Twins just beat 2-1 in their home park, is suddenly supernatural.

This is a terrible take. Cruz had a hell of a plate appearance but was fooled on one pitch and is perhaps the most professional hitter on a roster of very good hitters.

Sano cannot be too walk-happy.

They're not supernatural. Detroit is God awful and will not win a game against them. The rest of the games are KC and Toronto. I'm giving them 1 loss per series to get to 9-3. I sincerely doubt they will do worse than that.

You're talking about the team that lost 13-0 to Baltimore on consecutive nights just two weeks ago, right?

Again, Cleveland has not suddenly become supernatural. Stop treating them as such.

Since losing those two to Baltimore, they're 8-0 against teams with losing records. Suggesting they can go 9-3 is not a stretch.

Suggesting, no. It's reasonable. Expecting, no, that's not really reasonable.

Cleveland could easily go 9-3. It's much more reasonable that they go 8-4 or 7-5 because that's how baseball works.

Either way, it likely won't matter much. The Twins get the same cupcake schedule down the road. What will decide this division is the head-to-head games and the Twins just took two out of three in Cleveland.

Cleveland is a decent team. The Twins are a better team. Without an ugly twist of fate, I'm not terribly concerned.

And this is why one shouldn't make off-the-cuff observational comments about splits.

Schoop season OPS: .763

Schoop season men on OPS: .782

(though his RISP OPS is a pretty bad .667, but that's not what you said)

The eyes lie.

What matters the most in the baseball game is to drive runners in. Hitting with RISP especially in close or late games is extremely important. Twins needs to get as many clutch players (gamer) as possible on the roster. Schoop is the opposite of that. He is not going to help Twins win in playoff.
