sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 To Two Twain. A twin billing. Double header. Zaphod Beeblebrox would be proud. I wonder the position he would play in a baseball game? Not to be confused with the cricket wars. "If at first you don't succeed, try again." (now with less trying) doesn't really apply to baseball, does it? It should be if at first you don't succeed, sounds like you are out, so head back to the dug of outs. And as a side note, should the game get too boring. What is your favorite work of Samuel Clements? And what in this game reminded you of it? Er... besides this question? And as yesterday had an Abbot and Costello clip, could some kind tech savvy poster track down the Niagra falls bit? Seems appropriate, considering how long it has been since we've had a band wagon to jump on. I would like to dedicate this game thread intro to the snooze button. It gives everyone a second chance to wake up, sometimes even a second second chance, when every second counts. May, 112:10pm Tigers Spencer Turnbull ( R) 1. Gordon Beckham ( R) 3B2. C. stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Ehire for Marwin, Cave for Buck, Castro back behind the dish.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Looks like the Kitties are calling up an AA prospect that averages 5.3 BB/9 in his MiLB career for the second game ... Game 2 could be a long one

Enduring bad pitching has been the bane of every Twins fan since the 80s.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Enduring bad pitching has been the bane of every Twins fan since the 80s....and now poor Detroit has Gardy and Andy driving the bus. hehehe
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 And as yesterday had an Abbot and Costello clip, could some kind tech savvy poster track down the Niagra...Niagara?!?!? When I saw this, slowwwwwly I turned, step by step, and posted the following:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuMpcSTlB70 IMO the Stooges do a nice variant involving (what else) 3 participants:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYP1OBZfFK0
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Enduring bad pitching has been the bane of every Twins fan since the 80s. If you are referring to Eddie Bane, we have to go back to the 70s! And yes, he was bad too.
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Something to chew on for today: The Twins have a 4.5 game lead on the Indians right now. Here are the permutations for today: 1.) Twins Win Both Games, Indians Lose: 6 Game Lead2.) Twins Split, Indians Lose: 5 Game Lead3.) Twins Split, Indians Win: 4 Game Lead4.) Twins Lose Both Games, Indians Win: 3 Game Lead We can't control the Indians, but today is a pretty important day.

LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Berries, Odorizzi, Perez, Gibson and Pineida... in that order of course,

I had no idea this was going to be an offensive juggernaut. I certainly didn't expect pitching of any kind.

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I was at Eddie Bane's debut. With fireworks, I see. Looks like you were his good luck charm. That was his highest game score in any of his career starts.

MNT1996 Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Pineda's offspeed stuff looking pretty good so far
bighat Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Pineda's gotta be thrilled that, as the one struggling pitcher, he gets Adrianza-Cave-Castro making up 1/3 of the offense today....that said, he'll probably take it considering his last 3 opponents have been Astros-Yankees-Astros.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Pretty good first inning for Pineda.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Do you guys like Moreau in the booth as much as I do? I like Morris too. I knew Smalley as a kid, and he played catch with us, and I loved the guy, but he is brutal in the booth. I know Bert too, and he is awesome, but...
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Good eye, Kepler. Can’t beat a bad umpire.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 If Cruz would have battled his tail off, he'd be on third.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I love how intimidating Rosario looks at the plate.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 "And now he leads the Tigers in home runs with four."
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Pretty good first inning for Pineda. Thanks for the jinx.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Those are the 99th and 100th home runs given up by Michael Pineda. Give him the game ball.
bighat Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Do you guys like Moreau in the booth as much as I do? I like Morris too. I knew Smalley as a kid, and he played catch with us, and I loved the guy, but he is brutal in the booth. I know Bert too, and he is awesome, but... Morneau's growing on me. His soft-spoken, 'golly-gee-whiz' style combined with the accent...it was all a bit too cliche at first. But I like him more every day, he actually seems to enjoy being in the booth! Something Blyleven lacks, as he's basically said he only wants to do marquee games and doesn't bother with games in Cleveland, Detroit, or KC.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I know you can't win them all, but win them all against Detroit.
bighat Verified Member Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Great speed Jake Cave! Nice hitting Schoop!
