I've always enjoyed Sickels' work and it was nice that a national voice was a Twins fan. Hope he lands on his feet.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Sad face, but then, I only went once a month or so.....and I guess most didn't go as often as they go to other sites.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 We will find John Sickels. We will read John Sickels. And we will be the better for it.
tarheeltwinsfan Verified Member Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Hang in there John. Your writing and research is unique and appreciated.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Happens. Sickels had his minorleagueball.com blog for years and then he wanted to monetize it. It did not work out. Blogging is a labor of love. Very few blogs make it when they cross the for profit line... Also, it does not look like it is shutting down... Just moving to a different self-financed spot.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Wonder where John will go... It's a great site and a must read. Big mistake by Vox. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2018/11/30/18119650/a-note-from-john-sickels
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Wonder where John will go... It's a great site and a must read. Big mistake by Vox. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2018/11/30/18119650/a-note-from-john-sickels This is unfortunate, though John Sickels will land on his feet and that's' really the key... I hope so at least. He's always been good to me!
clutterheart Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Bummer. I learned a lot from him. At least we got the Twins Propsect 2019 prospect list.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 Not sure if we updated this but apparently Sickels is writing for the Atlantic.

gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 I think you mean The Athletic. https://theathletic.com/author/john-sickels/Atlantic/Athletic. What's the difference. :-)
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I think you mean The Athletic. https://theathletic.com/author/john-sickels/ I must admit, when I first heard of The Athletic, I too thought it was The Atlantic. I kept wondering why sports writers kept going to an old Boston publication focusing on current events. And I further kept wondering why I couldn't find them when I tried to search the site.
