Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 It won't matter. The only people capable of seeing it are the people who are already opposed to Trump. To the rest, it's fake news.

D. Hocking Verified Member Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 The one WaPo is calling the original is actually the doctored one. I have actually seen that argument, by someone claiming to be a video expert. I am not sure why I ever check out twitter. I see Trump is also working hard to discredit any possible changes in AZ, FL, and GA crying voter fraud.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted November 10, 2018 Author Posted November 10, 2018 I didn't vote for him, but it's not hard to understand why he won AZ by a huge margin. I think this is part of his path to the AZ Senate.

Or perhaps his phrasing of "legally cast votes" is just a little too cute.

ashbury Verified Member Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 There were people who couldn't even cast a provisional ballot? (And really I'm no Ducey fan.) I was referring to Chief, and also an anonymous stranger I overheard in downtown Phoenix (mentioned in a previous post), whose absentee ballots never showed up in the mail. Those who take that step and it fails are often in a poor position to then turn around and ask for a provisional ballot on Election Day - it's the reason they needed the mail ballot in the first place. Another poster also mentioned hearing of such situations this year.

Except Chief, I'm not that confident in his oval-filling.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 If Ducey is going to defy the Donald, he has my attention. Republicans never ending push to suppress the vote is Reason #1 that I doubt I’ll ever vote for one of them again.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Sounds like Brown is going to run for President. If he does, I think he'd be my #1 guy for the Dems. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/12/sherrod-brown-considers-2020-run-983835

Never been shy about being a liberal and he seems authentic. He has been in DC for a longtime, however; and I'm sure there's an unfavorable paper trail and some unsavory friends in his past.

I'm sick of watching Ohio and Florida ruin my country every four years.

Right now there is a "Florida Man" doing something unbelievably stupid that brings our whole species down a peg.

Doing an assload of PCP and attempting to seduce an alligator while wearing a Santa Claus costume is no reason to permanently take away someone’s right to vote.* *or is it?

We also wrested control of AZ's schools from the Republicans. Dianne Douglass and the guy that ran for her spot - Frank Riggs - are scary people to be state superintendent of schools. Today was good news for those of us in Arid Mississippi.

Maybe Secretary of State as well. It will be interesting to see what Ducey (and Kyl) do in the other Senate seat. Could McSally and Sinema form part of a moderate block in the new Senate? Oddly amiable result in Arizona.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 As I understand it, the Secretary of State would succeed Ducey if he left office and the Democrat just took a narrow lead. If Ducey left to become a Senator, then the governorship would go to the Democrats (assuming the small margin holds).

The negative, Trump-style campaign she ran was embarrassingly awful. I think it probably lost her the election.
ashbury Verified Member Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Arid Mississippi? That’s a new one on me.In Nevada, the snooty people in high-falutin' Reno refer to the town of Fernley just east of them as "Ferntucky". It's fair game out West to make fun of the South, apparently. (But, this recently-transplanted East Coast snob makes fun of Reno, so there's that.)

It's pretty common out there to make fun of the south and the rural west at the same time. Personally, I always preferred "The Valley of the Dirt People" when referring to the Inland Empire.
