Game Thread (8/12): Twins at Detroit, 12:10 pm CT

Stewart's fastball is a pretty good pitch, for as often as he throws it there is very little hard contact with a lot of the balls in play on the ground. His problem comes because he doesn't have the off-speed control to keep hitters off balance. Right now it seems like all the batters are sitting on the fastball, so if he had a change-up, curve, or slider he could throw where he wanted it would make a huge difference.

Why do I cringe when Cave dives for a ball in front of him? Must be just my imagination, that anything could go wrong.

95 MPH? Radar gun in Detroit must be faster than the one in Pawtucket last week.

You can't trust the MPG numbers out of Detroit either.

Down and in to Kepler...his happy zone.

Up and in...not so much.

To improve offense, MLB is considering a rule change that makes any out recorded on pitches outside the happy zone a do-over.

Oh, for Circus Boy: that brings us closer, only 3-2 now in the top of the 8th.

This has been your CBU.

I was just about to say that that camera closeup of Polanco revealed him totally focused. And then on the very next pitch he strikes out on that low garbage. :)

From the "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead" school of journalism: Tiger Woods is not leading the PGA.

Niko should play the twins more often

He's the kind of player who could change teams frequently, so yes.

As I'm sure you're all aware, summers here in Tucson are brutally hot. I had to run to the store just now (thanks, Mrs Chief) and in the parking lot--all that blacktop!--this poor little old lady just flat passed out from the heat.

At least, I assume she was poor. She had less than 5 bucks in her purse.

Ronald Rodriguez, act like you've hit a double in your life you toolshed. Looked like Lindor out there.

I missed it. What did he do after he arrived at second? All I saw was a quick handclap, typical after an RBI.

I wish I could be ugly, for just one day.

Because being ugly every day kind of sucks.

Hang on to it. We may need it for a couple of FA acquisitions in the upcoming off season.

Aaaaand, that's ballgame. Leftover ham for us for dinner tonight - no chicken dinnah.

Reminds me of the ol' breakfast saw.

The difference between "participating" and "all in."

When it comes to breakfast, the chicken is participating.

The pig is all in.
