Put me on the bandwagon that would rather be seeing Wade (or Rooker) get these opportunities than Field.  Probably irrational and those guys just aren't ready.

 

I hope the heat and pressure of six(?) minor league seasons have turned Kohl into a diamond in the rough.

 

First there was the FRE.  Last night was the THE.  What will be next?

The Gabriel Moya Operation? 

The Trevor May Incident?

The Tyler Ulysses Reginald Duffey Burger?

I wish Kohl had a rising four-seam fastball. Watching Iglesias lunge and spoil all those low two-strike pitches makes me want Garver to just put down one finger and let 'er rip, letters high. Guess it's not there.

Kohl Stewart had a good game overall. Would hate to give up on him as a starter because I think he could be a good one but I think he could be a great reliever. Definitely should be on the team next year

I'm definitely encouraged. A lot of hits, but not very many well-hit balls, and just the one walk. At the very least I hope they give him another look.

About what I've read.....decent stuff, but no out pitch yet......I'd add him to the 40 man, or trade him, as I'm sure he'll get claimed.....

He just pitched in a major league game, so the Commissioner will be phoning shortly if Stewart's not already on the 40. :)

Kohl isn't ready yet. His command is still not even close on where it should be to be able to pitch in the Majors.

The HBP was a pitch that got away, but for the most part I saw Stewart burying pitch after pitch low in the zone or below it, trying to induce bad swings. What I mentioned before, the lack of a high hard strike, speaks to his stuff more than command. I'm no scout, though...

Kohl isn't ready yet. His command is still not even close on where it should be to be able to pitch in the Majors.

I'd say his secondary stuff needs more work, but his command of the strike zone was pretty decent - 65% strikes in his first outing isn't bad.

It's said that certain pitchers never give in to the batter. Well, this umpire is giving in to this pitcher: Garver and now Field on consecutive at bats are put in a 0-1 hole on very marginal pitches.
