nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Usually, even if I disagree with something the FO does, I can see what the reason might be.Belisle? I can’t see one. What was the thought process?First overall draft pick in 2019 clearly.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 http://www.ermangroup.com/images/scrap2.jpgIs that Belisle I see in that picture? Must be an old photo since he's already signed.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I watched Dozier as he headed to 1st after his walk and his demeanor, to me, said, "whatever."
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Is that Belisle I see in that picture? Yup, he's the rusty one.
GCTF Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 First overall draft pick in 2019 clearly.Good luck with that. Molly will want to use the pick on a relief pitcher who can appear in 120 games.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Mauer continues to hit like Ted Williams at Wrigley; now we just need to get the other 450 games he plays every 3 years sorted out.Mauer plays 450 games in three years? Does this include winter mixed league bowling or something?
jun Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Dozier couldn't even touch fastball right down the middle, struck out swinging. I think he should be seriously thinking retirement now.Grossman swung on ball way low and stuck out looking at a hittable pitch. He has already lost his most useful skill.Kepler also struck out looking at a hittable pitch. Both Grossman and Kepler have been very passive. None of them possess Mauer's hitting ability and keen eyes. They really should be swinging with 3 run down. At least you have tried, therefore no regrets if you fail. I really don't want to see Dozier and Grossman back next season.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I watched Dozier as he headed to 1st after his walk and his demeanor, to me, said, "whatever." That, and maybe a bit of "Gosh, I'm still somewhat stunned that my current contract and my ability to play major league baseball are on pace to expire within minutes of each other".
jun Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Good luck with that. He can certainly do that every night in his dream though.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Wait a minute, Morrow comes in with 2 men on and a 4 run lead, gets one out, and gets the save??!! Someone explain that one to me.

Someone explain that one to me.Yeah, you get credit for the save if there's a guy on base (or was it scoring position?) even if the lead is 4-5 runs. Don't worry, I'm still learning these rules about the game too. Apparently you can't get a win and a save in one game as a pitcher.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Tying run was on deck.Wow, I'm an old you know what, and I have never heard that before.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Wow, I'm an old you know what, and I have never heard that before. You can qualify for a save if you enter the game with the potential tying run on base, at the plate or on deck. Also, if you enter the game with no more than a 3 run lead and pitch at least one inning or pitch the at least last three innings of a game. It's not the easiest rule in the book to know.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Can't pitch yourself into a save situation either. However, as Twins fans we all know it's possible to pitch yourself OUT of a save situation.

jun Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I'm frustrated the Twins front office pretty much decided to let the season get away from them while sitting on their hands and doing nothing. Changes are risky, but when you're bad, not changing anything is the most dangerous thing you can do. The front office has been watching this ship go down for the last 2 months, and nobody's lifted a finger. Belisle? Astudillo? Really? Molitor isn't the long term answer, everyone knows he's not the guy to lead this team to the next step. Firing him is almost too easy...I can't see how the guy still has a job. Any other MLB team he'd be long gone, hiring this local guy was a terrible decision in the first place and now we're seeing why.Don't have to mention Astudillo here. He hasn't had an AB in the major league yet.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 This game thread went to 11... Pages, that is. I am sad to say the Twins faired poorly in yon game of baseball. Perhaps i should have followed more closely... Sorry. My bad.
