Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Can anyone explain why Dozier continues to lead off? I can't but it's been happening for a while. Today I'm actually happy with the lineup construction. Molitor threw in the towel and it's about time. Look what he did: Right LeftLeftSwitchLeftRightLeftRightRight He's been spacing out the rights and lefts every game and that is smart to do but he must have finally come to the conclusion that the way the right handers are hitting... spacing them out was causing a problem stringing hits together. I'm encouraged to see him trying something else. Maybe later he will drop Dozier into the 4 or 6 hole and really shock us.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Now you did itDarn, now Odorizzi's probably going to give up 6 runs this inning.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 There are plenty of candidates. Yeah at least 40 of them. We are already going to lose one of them when Santana comes back. Why kick another to the curb if you don't have to. Cave can be called up with no casualties. Wade can only be called up with a casualty. Wade has to be much better than Cave in that scenario.
Rhino and Compass Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Cave was on the 40 man Wade was not. Wade would require the release of someone to make room. Teams just don't like releasing players if they suspect the stint in the majors will be brief. That's a common thread among all teams. I don't think they had a long term goal with Cave, and thus, there was no irreversible roster move to correspond to it, like there would have been with Wade.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 So Wade and Gordon basically can't be called up this year, at they would take up a roster spot? Fun times. Adrianza forever!
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Author Posted May 20, 2018 How is Buxton ever going to improve at the plate if the solution every time he struggles "bunt more" and "hit the ball on the ground"?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Teams release players every of season, when other teams are more likely to pick them up. I bet good money the twins can find someone in the forty man that can go, and not be lost or missed. But, I understand the argument.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 How is Buxton ever going to improve at the plate if the solution every time he struggles "bunt more" and "hit the ball on the ground"?In 2018 people still believe in hitting the ball on the ground?

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 In 2018 people still believe in hitting the ball on the ground?I believe I'd be THRILLED if Buxton hit a grounder.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I believe I'd be THRILLED if Buxton hit a grounder.Heh. Sad. But true.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 So Wade and Gordon basically can't be called up this year, at they would take up a roster spot? Fun times. Adrianza forever! Black and White are the only colors in your world.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 How is Buxton ever going to improve at the plate if the solution every time he struggles "bunt more" and "hit the ball on the ground"? Because it's better than striking out.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Don't get picked off 2nd, Eduardo.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Black and White are the only colors in your world.Nope. I'm just trying to draw the logical conclusion of the argument being made. But admittedly,I can see people interpreting that last post that way.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 My recollection is that I was critical of the Odorizzi trade. I was wrong.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 ANOTHER walk from our first baseman with runners in scoring position! SHEESH!!!
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 SNEPP! How's the world treating you? //Now you say "Like a baby treats a diaper, Chief."
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Just tuned in, haven't read the rest of the posts yet. Just wanted to say that I have been very pleasantly surprised with Morneau's commentary in the games he's worked. He shares a lot of insightful points about hitting and strategy. It's unfortunate about his near-monotone delivery but if you can get past that he's good.

Look at the pitching on the roster. There isn't an obvious pitcher to cut other than Hughes and they are not going to cut Hughes... yet. Why cut Cave, Granite or LaMarre just so Wade can come up for 10 days and be sent back down when Mauer comes back or Sano comes back.
