I don't think there are many managers worse than Molly. Certainly not Gardy. I'd like the team to move on from him today.

The Molitor that managed the 59-103 team and said "no one saw this coming" is the same Molitor that managed the playoff team and the same manager that managed the playoff game. I am surprised that he doesn't say "no one saw this coming" after every game.  Gardenhire hates second place so the Tigers won't stay there very long. Molitor's Twins are right on the "Gardenhire line" at .400.

It will be interesting to see how the Gardy boys do against the Yankees.  Will they fold which to me would be an indication of the influence of the manager given obvious past Gardy history, or will they compete and win a game or two - which to me would be an indication of influence of veteran leaders on the team.

Gardy's Tigers only lost once in their first series with the Yankees this year! Nevermind that the other 2 games were postponed.

 

Looks like they fell behind, started a comeback against Betances, but Green and Chapman put out the fire:

The Tigers allowed 8 runs in that one game, which about matches the Twins 2018 average vs NY (33 runs allowed in 4 games). The Tigers scored 6 runs off the Yankees in that one game, which I guess beats the Twins 11 runs in 4 games so far.
