Which means we get to hear all the same stories and legends for a second day in a row. Oh goodie.

Ya.    But this time A-Rod is going to be saying it.   Making it doubly nauseating.

I think James J could be pretty controversial for a game thread.  Best stick to the abusive cat with gluttony issues.

I can identify. I'm ambidextrous. I can't write legibly in any language with either hand.

And yet you'll accept Diehard's statement that he grew up in Cleveland at face value. :) Though, I guess, being in Cleveland could grow you up in a hurry. Never mind.

Would anyone really claim to be from Cleveland if they could avoid it? I once drove through Cleveland from the the east on I90. Once being the operative word in that sentence. You can go right through Downton on a 4 lane and then it becomes a 4-6 lane divided boulevard, till it reconnects with 90. It was very depressing! To the south of the freeway it looks like they had fought a war, and Clevleand had lost? :(

Years ago I was flying into Milwaukee and as we prepared to land I looked down and someone had painted on top of a warehouse in huge white letters, "welcome to Cleveland".  I think its the only funny thing I've ever seen about Cleveland.

Except when the Indians lose to the Twins.

Another evening of "Lindor Love?"

Please, no.

I was an Indians fan before I was a Twins fan, as in, before the Twins existed. My father grew up in Cleveland and had a brother who once tried out for the Indians (but didn't make it). He was an Indians fan, so I was an Indians fan ... until 1961, when we both shifted allegiance. But I've always had a soft spot for the Indians relative to other Twins rivals.

My first night baseball game ever was the Indians vs. Red Sox at the old Municipal Stadium with my dad on a family trip in about 1959. (This was a few days after my first day baseball game, White Sox vs. Senators at Comiskey Park with Harmon Killebrew, Zoilo Versalles, and a few other future Twins.) There were two highlights: Ted Williams hit one of his last homeruns and Dick Stigman (from a town very near my home town) walked out to the bullpen! As a 5-year-old, the second seemed more significant than the first. :)

Since then, I've only been to the Cleveland area once, about a decade ago. But I took advantage of the trip (and the cheaper air fare for staying over Saturday night) to hunt down my paternal grandparents' graves in Olmsted Falls. (They both died nearly a century ago when Dad was about 12, and he died when I was 16, so I never had any connection to them at all.) I can't say that I actually like Cleveland, but I have fond memories from my two trips there.

Dissatisfied with the two-party system, Chief voted for James B. Weaver in that election.

Father of Earl Weaver, and founder of the original No Bunt party. In recent years the No Bunt party has become the No Bunting Unless There is a Shift And The Score is Less Than Seven Run Differential Party (Brian Dozier, Rules Chariman) No one knows exactly what the Party stands for as all its rules are unwritten, and oral interpretation seems soley based on which side of the score you are on that day! :)

Anyone that thinks the priority in an emergency should be lights at a stadium.....I like baseball a lot, but this seems off to me.

I’m speculating wildly here but I suspect MLB was involved with the procurement of said generators.

Which is fine, I only hope they’re put to better use after tonight’s game.

My wife actually refers to me as non-dexterous. I can technically write with both hands. You cannot read either. I default to the right side for writing and throwing, but to the left for batting/golfing.

This. And, while playing the game is frankly minor in the context of the islands problems, not playing it won't solve them either. This also gives distraction to what must be a brutal daily grind. The plus to not playing the game is it would highlight the slow response and repair to the hurricane. That said, I sadly doubt it would make an iota of difference. :(

There's no crying in baseball!!!

Yes, I'm going to use this quote as much as possible today. :)

It's gotta be a brain confusion thing. That's what my wife calls it. I write (actually print) with whatever hand I happen to pick up a pen with. Drove my elementary teachers nuts. They finally forced me to chose one hand and stick with it. Didn't make any difference. My penmanshipmanship was still illegible. Good thing they invented computers.

Switch hitter (still talking baseball here), throw with either hand, shoot baskets with either hand, pick my nose with either hand. That might be too much information. Bit of a sticky wicket that.

Huh, interesting. I'm basically the opposite. I'm a lefty for writing, throwing, etc. but swing a baseball bat and golf right-handed.

Mod note:  Let's try to keep politically slanted posts to a minimum in game threads.

Thanks.

I guess I should pay better attention to mod warnings ... I totally went political in my post above.

You are lucky the moderator Chitown is not around anymore - she could be intense and you would be facing serious consequences.

I think discussing politics within the realm of the Greenback Party is still fair game.

I've long claimed word processing was invented because guys tend to lack penmanship skills.

The only thing we had in common was that she was from Chitown and I had once heard of Chitown.

What happened to her anyway?
