USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Where would you have liked Mayer to run to and wait to make sure it wasn’t getting caught? 2nd base? Past 2nd?He should be just short of 2nd base. When the RFer turns to face the wall, you take off. When the ball gets past the RFer on the ricochet, you score easily. Jerr 1
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2018 Author Posted April 13, 2018 False. I just rewound and watched it. It hit 15 ft up on the wall, off the "M" in U of M appreciation night. By then the RFer had turned his back to the IF, the signal to a baserunner to take off. Mauer should score on that.' Borealis 1

The trajectory of the ball was nearly vertical by the time it reached the wall. Hitting 15 feet up the wall translates to about 2 feet farther horizontally.

It seems like the Baseball Gods are like Greek and Roman gods of Chief's youth - amusing themselves by playing tricks on the people of earth. Borealis, Riverbrian and USAFChief 3
